AIBU to buy a pushchair this year to go to Orlando? Sold our pushchair a while back but we are going to Orlando in late July and it's going to be really bloody hot. We are planning on spending the majority of the 2 weeks at the parks. We walk to and from from school every day which takes 30 minutes and the 5 year old is tired by the time she gets home. Both of them were knackered when we went to Thorpe Park this year. I know people will be judgey if we do but I actually want to enjoy this holiday. AIBU to take a pushchair, not for them to sit in all the time but just as a means of a little respite?

Guess all the people who stared and laughed at us last time we took DD to zoo in buggy.. 2 years ago.. She was tall and 7..just thought she looked ridiculous and I was too lazy to make her walk (try pushing a huge kid up hills in a buggy and then rethink that). Havent been back to zoo since. She didn't have her SN badge on of course. Hmm

Won't say more as dont want huge derail but people should think before judging.

We went to Disney World Orlando a few years ago when Dc were 7 and 5. It was very hot and humid (mid 90s) every day, but they didn't need buggies at all and we never even considered it. Dh and I got more worn out than they did! I did notice lots of older kids in buggies though - from speaking to them they seemed to be the locals who came very regularly so maybe their kids weren't so excited.

Dc slept really well at the end of each day though!

If they will get too tired then make the day a bit more manageable for them. Do you really want to be pushing heavy prams about all day in the heat? It's a real no no for me. Wouldn't put my seven year old son in a pram, no way! At 5 and 7 (assuming they aren't sn) they should be walking around the same as me. It's molly codling! Yabu.

Fanjo there are many of us who would never stare or laugh - but for too many sadly are too lacking in imagination to think there might be good reasons for what a parent does, whether it's re buggies, reins or the dreaded dummies!

I wouldn't buy and take a buggy, start without and worst case hire the odd day

Like other shave said you can't possible be on the go either as an adult 9am -9pm daily in Florida, so you all need to pace yourselves. I would also suggest morning at park, picnic lunch there in shade somewhere, then head out over the heat of the afternoon to nap/ swim/ relax somewhere else like accomadation. Then head back in for the evening.

14 days is also way too long. So I would do one day in park, 1-2 days out elsewhere, then back in etc. Or can do beach in the day, and park in the evening for shows for example

We went in May with our 6 year old twins and hiring a stroller was the best thing we did. Who wants miserable tired hot kids moaning all day. Got a three wheeler double from orlando stroller rentals delivered to our hotel for around $120 for 2 weeks

Hire them at the park. We got a single stroller four our then 4 & 6 year olds and they took turns. It's not as stressful as you might imagine.
