About not being invited to SIL's party?

Hope I don't out myself here..

My SIL is holding a party for the new baby, my MIL and aunts have all been invited, but not me.
I'm not really fussed as I don't 'fit' in with any of SIL's friends and know I would only likely be sat feeling uncomfortable but my DH and his parents are quite cross that I haven't been invited and think it's really rude.
I DO feel a teeny weeny bit irritated that MIL was invited and not me, but I also think it's a bit of a mountain molehill situation.

Maybe she invited people she feels close too but also felt obligated to invite your mother in law as the baby's other grandmother would be there. You are not unreasonable not to be bothered. Your sister in law is not unreasonable not to invite you. You husband and his parents are slightly unreasonable for taking umbrage (although it seems to be a very small bit of umbrage).

I do think it's a little different now you've said that she's inviting family you both share, rather than just her own. But I still think you're doing the right thing by not getting yourself worked up about it.

I imagine she text or phoned everyone, she only saw my DH yesterday so if I was invited I think I would know.
It was later that evening that my in laws and DH were complaining that I hadn't been invited.

I don't know whether she is expecting gifts but I won't be getting any, well, I suppose I might actually because me and DH always buy the kids stuff even though she didn't even get my kids an Easter egg this year!

I don't know whether she just forgets or if she actively dislikes us.
