Who is painting her nails. The stink is awful. Plus I have a hangover

Tip glitter over their heads.

iMatter · 01/05/2016 14:04

Ooh, can you give us a running commentary of the couples' quiz please?

Toffeecrispy · 01/05/2016 14:05

It is inconsiderate if the train is packed i think if its empty it isnt a big deal

BastardGoDarkly · 01/05/2016 14:07

Has she said... Dull as fucking ditchwater... Yet?

SanityClause · 01/05/2016 14:08

Mmm, yes. The couple's quiz sounds great.

Hopefully they'll totally disagree, and you'll witness a full on row.But as they're in public, it'll be a sulky, glaring, hissing row, not a shouty one.

If they're all lovey dovey about it, don't tell us, or we'll all be sick. Envy

AdrenalineFudge · 01/05/2016 14:12

I quite like the smell

*runs away from thread

ScreenshottingIsNotJournalism · 01/05/2016 14:21

remover smells but I can't say I've ever really noticed too strong a smell from the actual polish. I've never painted my nails on public transport though. Maybe like me she does't really register the smell so doesn't think it'll smell to people even further away from the bottle than she is?

air freshner though, people spraying that at work! Cleaners dousing the toilet with it it's not needed if it's properly clean OMG it's awful! Smells worse than whatever it's trying to mask and hurts the back of your throat.

waitingforgodot · 01/05/2016 14:22

She just called him contrary lol. He looks well miffed

Katarzyna79 · 01/05/2016 14:23

what i remember of it as a young kid i like the smell too adrenaline. up there with the smell of fresh tarmac lool

it's still inappropriate in public though unless it's a quiet train, wouldnt bother me much im very tolerant there are worse things that could occur. if a passenger were cutting their nails now that would be disgusting to do in public

SauvignonBlanche · 01/05/2016 14:25

She might do her toes next, if you're lucky. Wink

OptimisticSix · 01/05/2016 14:28

Oh I do this, I've always l liked the smell... Never occurred to me people don't, will have to stop :D

mountaintoclimb · 01/05/2016 14:30

Better than applying mascara on a train. I'm always on teneterhooks in case the train jolts and the wand pokes them in the eye. could have a nasty injury.

GraysAnalogy · 01/05/2016 14:49

A girl in my lectures used to do this and give me a banging headache. Ended up asking her to stop

maggiecate · 01/05/2016 15:18

Sat opposite someone filing the hard skin off their heels on the train once...it takes all sorts

LordoftheTits · 01/05/2016 15:23

I saw a woman on a train in Paris clipping her children's nails onto the floor, it was horrible!

I was on a megabus ('cos I'm classy, innit) recently and an elderly man across the aisle from me took off his shoes and started picking at his massively overgrown yellow talons toenails. I'm weird about feet anyway but this was too much, I felt sick.

ScreenshottingIsNotJournalism · 01/05/2016 15:44

nooo feet pruning is deeply private! Even in a relationship where you pee on front of each other I don't do foot preening on front of my partner! yuck

KoalaDownUnder · 01/05/2016 15:57

It's not just the smell, though - public grooming is horrible!

Absolutely agog at the idea of foot-filing or toenail-cutting, especially! Shock

WaitroseCoffeeCostaCup · 01/05/2016 16:05

I once asked a lady to stop painting her nails in a SOFT PLAY that was in a conservatory area. No air con no windows. It was August and like a sauna! Did not need that stink thrown in! She didn't understand why I objected.

CombineBananaFister · 01/05/2016 16:07

Clearly you move in nicer transport circles than me, I wouldn't class nail polish as anti-social tbh. Trying to piss in a bin or bogey pick and flick, now thats aniti-social.

YABU - People eat smelly food, wearsmelly perfume, make loud morning grebby noises and have stale alcohol reeking out of their pores Wink so unless you can afford a chauffeur you'll have to suck it up am afraid Sad strong perfume is my bug bear though, it feels like you're eating it.

TheCatsMeow · 01/05/2016 16:15

Nail painting smells so that's not on. But Like applying makeup or brushing your hair in public., what? Neither of those things smell or affect anyone else, so what's the problem?

dailyfailrag · 01/05/2016 16:21

tibbawyrots - I wonder if you were on the same flight as me! I saw someone giving themselves a manicure on a plane, feet up on the tray table. Boak. I can't stand the smell of nail varnish, and in such a warm, confined space it's just horrid.

One of my favourite Instagrams is Passenger Shaming: www.instagram.com/passengershaming/?hl=en It shows all the gross things people do on planes. Warning, there are a LOT of grotty pictures of feet on here.

KoalaDownUnder · 01/05/2016 16:23

Because they're personal grooming activities. For doing in personal spaces, like your bathroom or bedroom. Or, at the very least, somewhere in your own home.

Someone cleaning their ears out or flossing their teeth doesn't smell or 'affect' other passengers, either. Doesn't mean it's polite.

TheCatsMeow · 01/05/2016 16:24

Koala but cleaning your eyes is a hygiene issue. Brushing your hair or applying makeup is not.

KoalaDownUnder · 01/05/2016 16:30

I don't understand what you mean. Sticking a cotton tip in your ear isn't a hygiene issue for other passengers (assuming you dispose of it correctly), any more than brushing your hair.

Probably less, actually, since brushing your hair disperses loose hair and skin from your scalp.

TealLove · 01/05/2016 16:32

I do this all the time
