to ask everyone to slow down!

Yesterday in the supermarket I asked the young girl on the checkout firmly but politely to slow down. I'm so sick of having items slung down the conveyor belt at break neck speed. In the past I've thanked assistants who've adjusted their pace to mine.

I've just made a payment by telephone and had to ask the person on the other end of the phone to speak more slowly as I couldn't keep up with what he was saying. I felt uncomfortable as he had a strong regional accent which wasn't helping and which he may have thought I was getting at but he just spoke so quickly! He then started to speak too slowly so I guess I'd offended him.

I could have kept up with both of these people if I'd wanted to - I'm old but not that old (50s) - but am just so fed up with being rushed I've decided to take control and set the pace myself!

No really, that's my point, you have to wait for me, I will demand the manager to explain whilst all the other customers have to wait, that's not showing any tolerance for others, it's selfish if you are doing it deliberately. It's a bit like when my DC were small and I was on maternity I avoided the shops at the weekend, I could shop anytime, why go at the busiest time with a buggy, that would be selfish.

So in Lidl and Aldi you have to load stuff out the trolley onto conveyor then chuck it in the trolley, then go somewhere else to pack? Yeah you're right, I will continue shopping elsewhere.

I'm not being goady, I have a different opinion, I put others consideration before mine (that's a concept for you, look around you, other people exsist!) and am sick to death of perfectly healthy people being selfish.

Disclaimer: not in the UK and there is a packing man at every till.

The woman in front of me today waited until all her shopping had been scanned to get out her bags, then had a long discussion about if she needed an extra bag which she would have to pay for. Then she decided to look for her card to pay. I had unpacked all my shopping from the trolley and she still hadn't finished.

Youre fooling no-one pet.

Scaredycat3000 · 30/04/2016 16:12

That is the idea in Lidl/Aldi. But in reality you set your bags up nicely in you trolley whilst you wait your turn the place each item in the bags ready in the trolley, the till has a a gap for your trolley to fit to help with this. It's really not hard, unless you want it to be.

Iamdobby...... No the shopping doesn't get "chucked" anywhere. Well not unless you decide to "chuck", that is!

The cashier scans it, then you "place" it in the trolley, you then wheel your trolley to the packing area where you "place" in in your bags.

Chucking it anywhere would be silly.

Toffeecrispy · 30/04/2016 16:19

Aldi are like that

Iamdobby63 · 30/04/2016 16:22

how hard it is would probably depend on how much shopping you have I guess.

Iamdobby63 · 30/04/2016 16:26

Lottie, as I said before, chucking, placing etc, is not for me as its adding another action before I get it home and then chuck, I mean, place in my cupboards. If it suits others that's great, it's just not for me, that's all.

I have been really happy withTesco staff the last few times I have shopped.

Week 1 - a member of staff helped me out to my car with the new car seat I had ordered to collect which was in a massive box.
Week 2 - checkout operator asked if I would like her to start packing or to wait to start scanning until I had finished unloading my trolley. I chose the latter.
Week 3 - checkout operator realised 15 month old DD was getting grumpy, so scanned items slowly enough that I could interact with DD as I packed.

Yesterday's was a bit aghast when I told her the teddy I was buying was for the dog to chew, not DD and kept waving it at DD as she scanned my shopping. Grin
