Excellent rates of pay

This is often put on job adverts.

What it usually means is they pay NMW of £7.20 (even better if your under 25 and they pay this. Hmm

Or it £7.20 plus some bullshit catch of some unachievable target.

I'm skilled in my industry

WIBU to point out these are not excellent rates of pay after you've wasted your time on an interview.

Absolutely not. That is shit.

zeezeek · 29/04/2016 15:18

In fact - that's not even the living wage is it?

unimagmative13 · 29/04/2016 15:23

No it's isn't!

It's a sad time when your a skilled trained person and you get paid better in Lidl.

A lot of companies don't let their recruitment teams advertise salary / pay rates (speaking from experience here) we used to have to say "excellent salary & benefits package". It's incredibly frustrating!

araiba · 29/04/2016 15:26

i take it to mean you can negotiate the salary depending on your qualifications, experience etc

bumpingalong9386 · 29/04/2016 15:26

And theses weren't on roles that were minimum wage.

Ifailed · 29/04/2016 15:28

invariably it means they'll pay whatever they think they can get away with.

unimagmative13 · 29/04/2016 15:46

Getting the basic should not be classes as excellent.

It seems some employers are proud they offer NMW.

^^ This

Look on the bright side, though - I'm old enough to remember when they did put salaries on the adverts, only to tell applicants at interview that the attractive sum mentioned was "a typo" Hmm
