To take ds(6) out of school for a week's holiday?

Okay, my reasoning being that his df works away and has been away for last 18 weeks. He's back for 2 weeks soon, then is away for the whole summer, until middle Sept.
The 2 weeks he is home we are considering pulling ds, who's in yr1, out of school for 5 days so we can spend some quality family time together.

Do it. I am taking mine out. Both have 98% attendance. Due to our work we have one week off we can take all year.

Rather than write I would make an appointment To speak to the head. But as much as I am normally against term time holidays in this situation I wouldn't hesitate

Do It and explain to the school the reason if possible get a letter from his employer stating his working pattern - we did this and didn't get fined last year.

I'm a head teacher and I would authorise that absence as exceptional circumstances. I authorise similar leave for children of deployed parents.

Do it! It's not like your doing it to save money on a holiday. I think you would regret it if you didn't. You need time together as a family :)
