So,
We stupidly booked a holiday for 5 weeks time then realised the DDs don't have passports and that I have lost mine while moving house recently.
I have been trying to fill out the forms to DDs first passports and it is ridiculously difficult.
I need to find out all of the GPs dob, marriage date, place, etc. Then as I don't have a passport currently. Try to get their birth certificates.
We are not even in touch with these people.
I want to scream!!

For my toddlers passport, does it have to be someone who has known her for 2 years or just to have known me?

Savesome it is somebody professional who has know you for 2 years.
I have my appointment at the passport centre early Monday morning and I am struggling to find a countersign who isn't related to me at short notice.
But my birth certificate has arrived and I have the form filled out correctly 6th attempt. So things are looking more positive!

Time scales seem to be pretty arbitrary. My sons first passport arrived very quickly. His standard renewal took 6 weeks. Arrived 2 days before we were due to travel! And I could not get a straight answer about the hold up.

MrsTerryPrachett fair enough. It is a PITA but worth it for us since we're emigrating to canada.I only renewed my British passport last year since it was running out and needed a name change for marriage. It's moving to a state where being a duel citizen means I need two passports! Canada is moving to canadian citizens need to travel on canadian passports into the country and I could see the UK following suit if they haven't already.

It was an extra £17 odd and then about £2 for p&p but to be fair I did receive it within 24 hours to be told on the phone today I don't even need it Angry

Didn't have time to read it all so sorry if it is repetitive but we recently applied for babies 1st passport. We didn't need to fill out gp information because we both had passports already (mine was due to expire but I put my number on anyway) all was fine and came back within a week! We did it about 2 months ago. We did check and send to be on the safe side as well. Sent mine the week after and that came back in a week too.
