to consider paying for new kitchen by renting out our house as TV location?

Just spoke to a TV producer who would like to use our house for a BBC series (don't know what). Production company put a letter through our door so called to find out more. It would be 12 days filming, they would entirely strip out and 'dress' the house - we would be in a hotel. Sounds majorly disruptive I know, but they would pay min. £6k!! I think this is right as DM has had her house used once too and was paid £750 for the day.
This would mean we could get our new kitchen extension without getting into debt - we've already saved quite a bit.
But, I am a very anxious, private, introverted control freak so the idea of a film crew taking over our home makes me CRINGE! WWYD??

Bloody hell do it! You might even find it turns into a regular earner. I sometimes drool over the houses featured on those location agency websites.

I work in TV production and have actually done this to people's homes before. I would say go for it. From my experience everything will be left exactly as the production company found it and if it's the BBC you have nothing to worry about. Put up with the hotel for a bit (it may be nice!) and enjoy the money!

Do it why wouldn't you ? 6k and a hotel (wishes it was me)

Remember your neighbours - not the very close ones as they'll likely be looked after too, but the ones slightly further away will likely be pretty disrupted by it all without any compensation - so if you need a lot of goodwill from them for anything thing twice.

But if it's not inconvenient - why not?

6 grand and all you have to do is clear out for twelve days? In a heartbeat. And I'm very territorial about my house.

My uncle used to be a freelance Prop Master and I used to go and help him sometimes. I went to someone's (fabulous) house in London and they totally stripped it, so it was literally a shell. Loads of people coming and going all day through the house, and not a lot of respect shown that it was actually someones home.

I'm not trying to put you off but you get paid a lot of money for a reason.
