To find incessant checking in on FB bloody annoying?

Why do people feel the need to tell the world where they are?

It seems worse tonight because 2 of my FB friends are on a pub crawl with their DH's and all 4 of them are checking in at every pub and tagging the other 3 so every check in is appearing 4 times on my feed. I feel like I am doing the bloody pub crawl with them GrinGrin

That's why I use Swarm... But only link it to my Twitter account!

GetifuYaBassa · 16/04/2016 20:22

One of my Fakebook Faces insists she must check-in in order to remember where she has been and who she is with..... because otherwise she'll have no recollection..... apparently.
Hmm
Aye, right.
My Halo suggestion that there maybe a correlation between her memory loss and drinking copious cocktails received a frosty response.

I hate it when someone has met up with their friend that day then writes "so lovely seeing (insert tagged name) today. Alfie has grown so much! Catch up soon".

I assume they could just text said friend but I suppose doing via Facebook is letting everyone know you've seen a friend today. No one cares!

MuttonCadet · 16/04/2016 20:25

Don't have an issue with it, happy to see my friends happy, if they're local I can catch up, if they're further afield I can ask their opinion on the place.

It takes less than 10 seconds to check in, so if someone else goes to the bar you have plenty of time.

You can unfollow or deactivate your FB account, but it's probably more fun to moan about it on mumsnet on a Saturday night. (I can even mumsnet from the pub if everyone else goes for a fag).

Yanbu. It always reminds me of a quote i saw once that said "The government dont need to spend money on monitoring the population. Given the right tools, people will offer up all the information by themselves."

ShinyTurd · 16/04/2016 21:27

Yup, hate the 'check ins', the 'humble bragging' and worst of all the 'mysterious posts'. Goes along the lines of....

'Can't believe he's done this'

Cue twenty responses of, you ok Hun?/let me know if there's anything I can do babe. Once the poster has got the requisite number of responses they will respond with 'can't say on here, I'll PM you' Hmm No matter who does these posts I refuse to respond to them on principle.

I really want to close my FB account but a couple of things are stopping me at the moment. Firstly, how do I save all my pictures? Also, my personal page is linked to my business one, will there be any knock on effect? Sorry to hijack the thread OP Grin

SoThatHappened that's awful that you had to do that to 'prove' you were ill.
