So this happened in Georgia, where corporal punishment is allowed.

Basically, if the mother didn't agree to the boy getting a 'spanking', they would have had to suspend him and since the child has already missed 18 days, the mother would have been jailed.

Ok, in fairness it sounds like he was being very bold, but good God, can this be allowed?

Warning, if you do watch the video, you will probably feel very distressed, so don't blame me if you do! Kinda half sorry I watched it myself Sad

Obama has no say in it. This is a matter left to individual States including Georgia. The South always reminds me of what people said about Africa in the Fifties: Not yet ready for self-government.

Augusta I'm not saying that it isn't cruel and that he won't be frightened. But that doesn't put it on the same level as being whipped with wire, or repeatedly raped or having your genitals electrocuted.

It would depend on the definition of "severe pain and suffering", wouldn't it?

Look at the output of the American film industry. The vast majority of films have a simple plot line... Hero has a problem.. He solves it with violence.

Terminator, Bourne franchise, Jaws, Dirty Harry, Die Hard, Alien, all of Steven Segals films, Rambo, ... I can't name that many because I don't watch them any more.. Last night there was a crappy film with a big fight scene at the end on Movies 4 Men.. Snow white and the Huntsman (eveil queen gets killed), Hunger
games...

Then wonder why do Americans think violence is the answer to problems.

Poor boy. In the video somebody is laughing, however it is clear its not the boys first time being spanked as he says don't pull my pants down and his mom says he always does this with me. Did anybody else here the part near the end, the boy goes to his mom for comfort and she tells him she's busy using her phone.Sad
