Years of crap sleep has now got me loving my early weekends.......its like Stockholm syndrome.

I get so much done, about to paint my wall. And I'll be first in at the shops. I mourned my lie ins for years, now I'm ready for action....anybody else?!

I've been like this for the last year or so. I love waking up early on a weekend and have the whole day stretching out in front of me instead of being in bed till 11 and wasting the day.

I am however watching telly and mumsnetting as we're not doing anything today. I need to catch up on washing (one loads almost finished) and give the bathroom and kitchen a scrub.

I grew up on a farm so I was very used to early mornings as a child and never really lost the habit. I actually hate it if I sleep late, I feel like I've wasted time and lost half my day.

My dc are still young so they are normally up with me. I'm very much looking forward to the days when they learn to stay in bed!

TwentyCupsOfTea · 16/04/2016 10:46

I've jogged 5k this morning :D dp still lazing in bed as per...

LBOCS2 · 16/04/2016 11:01

Uck, no.

I'm not and never have been an early riser. We've even trained our DC to wake up at a reasonable time (around 8am) by being No Fun first thing.

There's nothing good on tv and it's not socially acceptable to drink in the morning. I'd rather take my fun at the other end of the day Grin

ChopOrNot · 16/04/2016 11:02

My DCs (10yo and 8yo) are well trained not to disturb us until 8am. But will happily play/entertain each other later than that. To be fair they naturally wake about 7.30 so not that much to ask of them.

I have discovered though we waste so much of the day if we all emerge from our beds at a "natural" lazy pace. So now I actually set an alarm during holidays and often at the weekend and get everyone to eat/teeth/dress at a reasonable hour.

Not done so today though. Currently all sitting around still in our PJs.

I got up just before 11.00

Bliss.

YoJesse · 16/04/2016 12:09

Really?? People voluntarily get up before 9am?

I fantasise about lie in all the time but my Ds is up about 5-6ish every day.

To be fair, being up that early means, especially at the weekend, kids activities and museums are less crowded. We've already been to a museum (smug parenting moment) and now he's eating Wotsits and Ribena for lunch (shine fully taken off smug parenting moment)!

My MIL has always struggled with insomnia and now embraces the times she is awake.

She has a cuppa and sets up her ironing board when she wakes in the night, then finishes the ironing when she wakes for the day at 5. She does all her housework before work.

She's in bed by 9 most nights though.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 16/04/2016 13:59

That would be quite good. Dd gets up 130 to 330.
