Ideas needed for use of a granny flat?!

I need idea on what to do with the granny flat when we move into my late parents and grandparents house!

It's separated only by a normal internal house door via a corridor.

We are currently using it as storage but that's a complete waste!

I know you guys are full of wisdom and great ideas! Inspire me please?

I'd rent it out as a separate flat. Failing that, set up a work from home business in it? Could be great for all sorts of businesses.

How old are your children? The way I am picturing it in my head, is a kitchen and living area in one. If this is the case, I would move lots of toys in there and have some tea/biscuits/ snacks in the kitchen area. You can then use it as a playroom. Bedroom could just be a spare room or maybe a study ? either of you work from home? That sounds like a childminders dream being able to have a separate area!!

Please give us some more info about the rooms you have in rest of house, how big the garden is etc?

A rough floor plan would be great too

Is it possible to put a front door that is separate from yours? It doesn't matter if it doesn't face frontwards but a separate entrance that can be independent from you iyswim

I think the ideas above are great, please could you tell us your children's ages? Then we can have more informed ideas

Wow. I wish I had some space that I didn't know what do with! I'm jealous.

Rent it out if you need the money, or turn it into a craft/leisure/hobby room. Or move into yourself and get some peace! Grin

Sorry I've been snowed under!

We've converted the garage into a 'man cave' for all DH's computer stuff, this is beside the living room.

On the other side of the hall is a dining room, at the back of the house opposite dining room is the kitchen, beside the kitchen is our bedroom and opposite that at the front of the house will be DD bedroom. Upstairs the attic has been converted into 2 bedrooms, the smaller will be DS's the other a playroom because it is soooooo huge and it's the attic it is roasting in summer and freezing in winter at night.

At the end of the house where the bathroom used to be a corridor has been made to access the new bathroom and the granny flat!

HTH
