My driving test that is.

I'm mid 40s. Had (and failed) several tests in my teens, then gave up. Have never tried since, and built my life around not driving - I live in the London suburbs so public transport is excellent, I can literally get anywhere by bus/ train, and am not the sort to ask for lifts everywhere.

Anyway, after much nagging persuasion by my bf, I have restarted lessons. My test is a few weeks away.

Ever since I failed my last test, 25 years ago, I've just viewed it as I can't drive. That I'd never be good enough to pass my test. But now I'm starting to think we'll, maybe I can. And imagine myself driving (I already have my own car etc). Then i think we'll maybe i shouldn't get too confident. I'm not much better than i was 25 years ago and i couldn't pass then. And every lesson i make mistakes, stall it or am in the wrong gear. So should I think about passing or am i just getting my hopes up unnecessarily?

It took me four goes to pass mine. But all you have to do is drive safely. If you can operate the car ok, go over and over the highway code. You don't need to practise physically driving to do that.

Took me eight years and six attempts.

I'm an excellent driver - I was just shit at tests.

It was only when I got some fire in my belly and thought 'Fuck this shit' that I passed.

Whether you think you can, or you think you can't, you're probably right.

I passed my driving test on my 11th attempt.

It took more than 10 years (did a few tests, gave up, waited a few years, same).

I passed my theory test three times though (it expires after two years)!

Same as Yvaine, was fine at driving, just a mess during tests.

If you pass, hurray, if you don't, fuck it just do it again - although it is annoying at £60 odd a pop!
