Ryanair dilemma! Panicking!

Have posted on here for traffic. I'm so worried. I'm travelling with Ryanair tomorrow and have just checked in online. I'm horrified I made a typo with my Christian name. I'm so bloody dopey. It's just one letter wrong. But now my boarding card is one letter different to what's on my passport. I've tried calling them and used up nearly all my credit on my phone. .
Will it be a big problem, HELP. Sad

I booked DD with my date of birth. They didn't notice

Caterina99 · 08/04/2016 15:51

My friend had her name spelled incorrectly on her boarding card when she came to visit me last year. UK- US flight. It was only one letter different and no one noticed.

CheshireChat · 08/04/2016 15:51

There's an app called WeQ 4U that switches to a normal number not premium it uses data, but it isn't an issue if you have WiFi. Or have a look here:
www.saynoto0870.com/

Ps. I've made the same mistake, they did notice, but said it's fine for what it's worth.

oldlaundbooth · 08/04/2016 16:06

They won't even notice.

if they do, say 'Ooops, silly me!'

BitOutOfPractice · 08/04/2016 16:08

Right at the top of the screen there's a search box. Type @Ryanair in there and click on them when you see them appear in the drop down

Then you'll be on their page. Under their big logo and the little write up about them yo'll see a button that says "Tweet Ryanair". Click that and then type your message in the box that pops up

Good luck!

Thanks Bit I'll give it a try.

My son's name is spelt wrong in his passport. Like Justine instead of Justin (but not actually that). We've resolved to live with it until it needs renewing and just make sure we book plane tickets with the "wrong" name. A couple of times we've forgotten, even when flying to the US and no one has noticed a discrepancy.

bigbluebus · 08/04/2016 16:15

DH booked a ticket with Ryanair for DS using the shortened version of his name instead of the version on his passport. I bollocked him told him to get it changed when I found out. He said it wouldn't matter but later relented presumably after some secret googling and rang them. They changed the name free of charge which surprised me, given Ryanair's reputation. Can't help with you not being able to get through tough OP - I don't recall DH having any problem by phone.

I would also be surprised if they would notice tbh - especially if it is one letter in the middle of the name and you are already checked in - they will only be glancing at them at the gate.

GypsyFl0ss · 08/04/2016 16:23

I have used their live chat system many times with success. It can be a little slow as I suspect they "chat" to quite a few customers at each time but they have always been able to resolve my queries and you can request an email print out of the conversation as back up.
To be honest though I'd just wing it. I don't honestly believe they will notice a letter difference.

OP how long is your surname? i.e. more letters less change they'd notice?
When trying to blag anything check in wise (too heavy/many bags) I am super friendly, smiley and ask several questions " is the flight looking to be on time today/ is it full?" as they start to inspect things, usually works to distract them or gain their sympathy.

JustJoan · 08/04/2016 16:35

Last time I traveled with Ryanair I got my date of birth wrong on the check in form ( stupid keyboard! or silly me?) no problems at check in . so I shouldn't worry

exWifebeginsat40 · 08/04/2016 16:37

you're allowed one letter wrong on your booking - it won't be a problem.

lozster · 08/04/2016 17:06

I was once travelling on business with a colleague. The travel agent had two letters of a seven letter name wrong. Being work weary he actually pointed out the error hoping to get a cab home. The BA check in woman said 'no problem - we would accept up to 3 letters different' . This was a few years ago.

Tulipblank · 08/04/2016 17:10

I wouldn't worry. My friend's actual passport had a name typo and she managed to travel many places with it!

MargotsDevil · 08/04/2016 17:14

Ryanair didn't check any ID at any point when we flew with them last month so I really wouldn't worry.

emeralddaze · 08/04/2016 17:26

I'm relaxing a bit now. It is a fairly long name so hopefully won't be noticed. I've tried that live chat thing but haven't had any joy. I still can't manage to tweet. Confused

Bullincathkidston · 08/04/2016 17:50

I'd do the live chat thing. I recently booked child dd as an adult instead of a child didn't notice until I printed the pass.

On line chat sorted it for me no charge no hassle!

emeralddaze · 08/04/2016 18:18

I'm not having any luck with the online chat thing cath. but knowing me I might be doing something wrong. Smile

OP posts:
emeralddaze · 08/04/2016 18:20

It's saying online chat agents not available. It's been saying that all day. Sad

MrsTerryPratchett · 09/04/2016 14:41

So what happened, OP?

emeralddaze · 09/04/2016 17:05

Thanks for all the replies, all is well, thank goodness. I didn't manage to get through to Ryanair so I just took the chance and hoped they wouldn't notice. I got all worked up over nothing. They hardly glanced at either passport or boarding card. Smile

Carriemac · 09/04/2016 17:08

They won't notice . I flew with the wrong surname last year to Sweden . Out and back

MrsTerryPratchett · 09/04/2016 17:08

All's well that ends well. Enjoy your holidays.

emeralddaze · 09/04/2016 17:12

Thank you MrsTerry
