AIBU to assume that dieting (and I have been strict), along with walking around 15/18 miles this week would mean weight loss?

No, just been on the scales and it says I've fucking put 1kg on! What the fuck?

So pissed off right now, making me not want to bother.

I mean, would you be pissed? I'm really trying.

Yes I'm very overweight.

I'm not having treatment for my pcos, I am being referred to a specialist though.

I have tried every diet fad and pill in the book and all I ever did was get fatter, more miserable and buy more rubbish.

12 weeks ago I joined slimming world and am almost 2 stone lighter (I have a lot to lose), cook fresh healthy family meals, eat way more than I ever used to and feel great.

if you are not eating or drinking enough of the right food you won't lose weight.

Sirzy · 08/04/2016 10:56

Are you doing it under medical supervision? I would be very dubious about doing a meal replacement diet at all but especially with medical conditions too.

curren · 08/04/2016 12:22

What has your doctor said about the diet?

How long have you been doing it?

Doctor is sending me to a specialist X

Like others have said weightloss can be really up and down. It's also not immediate.

I've been doing Weightwatchers since January and it's certainly not been instant results for me, but has happened in the end.

E.g. one week I was really strict, didn't even eat all my points and did loads of exercise and gained 1/2 pound
A different week we went away for a weekend and I didn't track and didn't eat that great and didn't do much exercise and still LOST 1/2lb
A different week I ate all my points everyday, plus most of my weekly bonus points and did an average amount of exercise and lost 4lb!

For me there seems to be a lag of about 10 - 14 days from what I do to the results. If I 'fall off the wagon' one day (e.g. get a Chinese takeaway and eat my own weight in chicken balls... mmmm) I have to just get back onto it the next day and not let it put me off the long term goal.

I couldn't do a diet where I was replacing meals with shakes, soups etc. Would drive me mad. Maybe a week, but I couldn't stick to it long term. I like my normal food!

Good luck x

Doctor is sending me to a specialist

For the diet or pcos or both?

Did he/she recommend the diet?

Have you not been offered any treatment or tried anything before seeing a specialist?

Is your pcos very severe? Here you would only see a specialist if your were TTC and/or very severe problems, after trying other treatments.

SurroMummy13 · 08/04/2016 19:09

For the PCOS

Not been offered any treatment before being referred, no.

It wasn't but in the last year it has become a lot worse. I am aiming to loose weight so I can be a surrogate.

I always gain weight the first week of a diet/exercise program. I have to hang in there grimly. Good luck.

SurroMummy13 · 08/04/2016 20:56

Thanks.

Going to see how it pans out
