To think MacBooks dent easily?!!

Hey all,

I love my Macbook, I really do. But as I was opening the lid of my Macbook, it softly hit the wall and now there's a dent! This always happens! There was a time I had my Macbook in my bag, and as I was taking off my bag and dropped it on the ground, thinking why the hell did I do that, I quickly checked at the state of my Macbook and yes there's a dent from where it has been dropped.

I've never had this issue with my other laptops, my old Tobisha laptop hardly had any scratches or dents. I don't know, am I being superficial? I don't think I am, maybe its because I spent a grand and a half on this Mac and I'm being too touchy about it.

Mine was bought for uni five years ago with my student loan, but I have money aside now that I've saved to replace it when it finally gives up , ds has a full time job in the IT industry so bought his own and DD saved for hers which was something like £799 in the John Lewis sale.
Offset that against the number of windows laptops that have given up the ghost in this family (DH has had 3 in the five years I've had my mbp) and I find its better to pay more for something that lasts.

Really? I'm fairly clumsy and over the past 10 years have dropped, banged, bumped them and otherwise not been the perfect owner - not a mark on any of them. When you say you "softly hit a wall" ....er, how softly did the wall hit it?

I've just googled MacBook - how are you all affording them and for the kids?! It's like everyone on here has an iPad too. It's like an alternative universe.

DD2's school provides all students grade 6 and above with a MacBook Air. The state provides the budget.

DD1's school for some reason isn't a part of this program so we got her a reconditioned one for $850. She paid more than half of it by saving all her birthday/Christmas/babysitting/other earnt money.

They're nowhere near as expensive in the US as they are in the UK though.

... and yes, for this reason my next laptop will be a MacBook Pro.

My MBP is reasonably well looked after and has missing rubber feet, bends at each corner and a small dent. It's a horrible, hateful thing and the sooner it's beyond repair and I'm given a proper replacement the better. A £2,000 non-Mac machine would be a joy to use.

It's needed new RAM sticks twice, a couple of keyboard keys mended (that was my fault) and is beginning to get a sometimes non-responsive touchpad. That's in a little under 2 years.

I had an old MacBook and I put a shell case on it, never again! I had cracks and dents everywhere.

As I said, I gave an Air with a hard shell and no cracks or dents. I think it's about 4 years old now. I'm not overly precious about it and shove it about.

It sounds like you don't treat them very well!
