To not give the dog the last of the milk?

Because her big brown eyes are telling me I am! She loves a bowl of milk- no matter how meagre.

Only enough milk for 1 more cup of tea; no local shop to walk to, the nearest is a 3 mile drive and I need to go there in a couple of hours anyway. However, I'll need another cup of tea before then as DS's friend is coming over this morning and he irritates me, it's not him- it's me.

I'm not being that unreasonable, am I?

No but then I don't give my DC milk to drink at breakfast if it means no milk for my mid morning tea

LetThereBeCupcakes · 05/04/2016 07:55

YABU!

Poor doggie. Your lack of milk is not her problem. Tsk.

Roseberrry · 05/04/2016 07:56

Yabvvvvvvu! Poor wee love.

GinIsIn · 05/04/2016 07:57

Just as an aside, dairy isn't that great for dogs' stomachs so you should be sparing with the milk in any case.... Sorry!

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 05/04/2016 07:59

Mix a little with water for her? Win:win.

Lighteningirll · 05/04/2016 07:59

Yabvu black tea is much nicer than white misses point entirely

acasualobserver · 05/04/2016 08:04

Keep the milk and give the dog a biscuit to make you feel less guilty.

bakeoffcake · 05/04/2016 08:05

Dogs aren't meant to drink milk so YANBU

Yep my sisters dog loves tea, so much that she doesn't even wait for you to finish or often tbh start the cup before she's in their lapping it up, but her stomach just can't deal with the milk.

Dogs are mainly lactose intolerant

londonrach · 05/04/2016 08:12

Can dogs drink milk. We used to feed next doors cat and told never to give milk just water.

Collaborate · 05/04/2016 08:20

Some dogs have no problems digesting milk and dairy products. Yet others experience acute intestinal distress — like gas, diarrhea or vomiting — whenever they consume these kinds of foods. It all comes down to how your dog handles a specific nutrient found in milk — a nutrient known as lactose.

From here.

QueenofLouisiana · 05/04/2016 08:26

Clearly we got lucky- she digests milk without any ill-effects. She doesn't get much, but loves it. She's been pacified with extra tummy rubs- and I'm about to make another cup of tea.

Youre lucky that she can tolerate it.
My dogs love plain natural yogurt, so I get a big cheap tub of that for them every week. Calcium = good for dogs teeth, bones etc.

Collaborate · 05/04/2016 08:47

Goats milk is good for dogs, and its yoghurt is good when they have an upset tummy.

QueenofLouisiana · 05/04/2016 09:06

She loves yoghurt too- I may pinch the idea of buying her a cheap tub. She really likes licking the remains of our yoghurts out of a finished pot.

We are lucky in that she has v few problems with her health. (Apart from the broken back a few years ago.) It's a good job really as she hates the vet with a passion.

Give her a biscuit instead. Win win.

I'm sure everyone used to give cats milk years ago. Do people not do that anymore?

fakenamefornow · 05/04/2016 09:16

Give her a bit of your tea. In fact, as you only have enough for one cup, give her all your tea, she deserves it.

fakenamefornow · 05/04/2016 09:20

This thread is very timely, it reminded me to give my dog her tablet bit of cheese with nothing in it.
