AIBU to want to buy a new cot because of these spots on dd?

My dd is 5 months she keeps getting marks on her legs. Like pinprick marks and some larger (but still small) bruises.

I posted about a particularly bad lot a few days ago I was sent to a and because it looked like a meningitis rash and was non blanching.

But she has new ones since then plus the slightly larger areas.

She is totally well. The only thing I can think is hat she is somehow knocking her legs on something and the only thing I can think of that it's even possible is the side of our bedside cot?

I am wondering if it would fit?

I have attached the pic I attached to my panicked night time non fading rash post in case it's obvious to everyone but me what is causing this.

Do you think this could be he cot ? Or is it something o haven't even thought of?

If she has eczema cream then yeah I would try it. Depending on the cream it should go down again quite quickly if it is eczema. I would also give her some child's piriton if the pharmacy will sell it to you. I am sure I got some in boots that was ok from 3 months. Dd gets a strong adult one now on prescription as hers is so bad (2.5yo and on 15-20ml a day) but I think 2.5ml is the dose on the boots one.

As others have said we are not experts and can only go on our experiences. If you are worried then definitely make an emergency appointment tomorrow and get her checked. Hopefully it is nothing!

Ok I will try the cream, the rash is a little more bruise like now and the new patches from today are darkening up. I will have a look tomorrow if it's anymore widespread I might call gp in the morning. If it's just ticking along as it had done the last few days I'll wait until Wednesday ,

My uncle had itp it can be very serious he hemorrhaged a few times and had to have transfusions.

wonkybumcrack · 03/04/2016 22:08

And the spots looked like those you could sometimes just touch his skin and they would appear

BYOSnowman · 03/04/2016 22:10

Do you carry her in a sling?

Sothisishowitfeels · 03/04/2016 22:15

Shock wonky

BYOS - no we don't use a sling

Ok. Dd had similar spots and it was due to sling.

Hopenyoubget to the bottom of it!

If the hospital doctor is correct that it is a petichial rash and it sounds like it is from what you describe, then eczema cream won't help. I would phone your gp tomorrow and explain the situation. I would imagine they would want to do a blood test. I had this sort of rash once and it was caused by some steroidal medication I was taking, but it can be caused by an underlying illness that requires treatment.

Sothisishowitfeels · 03/04/2016 22:31

Ok I will def call tomorrow if it hasn't magically disappeared !

I am resisting the urge to stare at her legs all night - we have a bedside cot so she's lying next to me Grin

How is she today op?
I found these pictures of my DS's rash when he had ITP if it helps any.

sothisishowitfeels · 08/04/2016 10:00

hi 5minutes! sorry i just didnt notice your reply!
That looks exactly like my dds legs. The original spots are fading now but she has one or two new ones but not as many. The doctor totally dismissed the rash on her legs but gave us aveeno for her body in case she was itchy.

if the rash doesnt seem so bad is it worth going back again or have we just ridden it out anyway?

i am 99.9% sure i will be dismissed again if i go to the gp!

She has a few larger areas like your pic but the are not as dark - she also had a few on these which seem different

If you think there are new ones coming up it might worth going back and asking if they think it could be ITP but tbh they didn't actually do anything when my son had it we just had to keep an eye on it and make sure it went away.

Ok thanks I will leave it a while and see what happens Smile
