Dd has fairly complex health issues, I've posted over the years about them.

So for the second time dd has had a pretty bad infection of some kind.

10 days later and she's still not any better, she has protein and blood in her urine. Has had sever urine infections and been hospitalised once because of a bad one.

She's had a scan which showed nothing. They said they would keep an eye on the microscopic urine.

Fast forward a few months and she now has visible blood in her urine, protein and has been urinating a lot less.

I've been told that Drs will be contacting me for tests etc.

Now my problem is is that for 10 days she's has been spiking 40 fevers, been down to a & e 3 times and told its viral. No worries it shall pass. She came up in a pin prick rash they said it's because she's I'll, ok again I trust the Drs.

She has leg pain, headaches and rigors.

I've just called gp for a callback and she's just cried herself to sleep saying her leg feels like it's bleeding and it hurts :/ she's 4, it hurts in her flank, her legs, her eyes.

I'm lost, everything I go to a & e they say she'll be fine, she has flu and its exasperated her kidney problems but I just feel something wrong. I don't want her to undergo bloods if I don't have to (she's had so many before ) but it's getting to the point where I'm dosing her every 3 hours intermittent calpol and Nuero and if I don't do it religiously she has rigor fits.

Drs told me to do the meds.

I just need advice please. I don't know what to do.

Do you feel reassured Esme?
How is dd at the moment?

Esmeismyhero · 31/03/2016 18:40

normal (or low temp) does not necessarily mean she is ok...if septic she can still have normal temp....GP is fobbing you off....you have been keeping an eye on her and she's no better ( in fact worse)...she needs bloods repeating!

Esmeismyhero · 31/03/2016 18:41

No, I feel fobbed off but I don't want her to go through testing if the Drs don't think it's necessary

Poor poppet, hope you soon ge sorted x

Badders123 · 31/03/2016 18:47

I think the Dr is wrong.
If this was a verbal adult they woe be in hospital on an iv by now....

Mishaps · 31/03/2016 18:48

Mothers have an instinct with their children - if you feel things are not right, then take her to A&E or urgent doc appointment.

If you rang 111 with this history their algorithm would clearly come out with an instruction to go to A&E.

The issue here I think is that repeated UTIs can cause kidney damage.

Esmeismyhero · 31/03/2016 18:52

I'm scared, now I'm in tears. They are speaking to the dr now to seek their opinion. Swine flu has been rife apparently.

PonderingProsecco · 31/03/2016 18:53

Who is they...

ProbablyMe · 31/03/2016 18:53

I'm sorry if I scared you. Your post was very close to home and I could t not say anything.

I hope your daughter gets better soon.

Badders123 · 31/03/2016 18:58

Lots of very nasty viruses about atm. I've been ill for the web of March and am not getting any better.
And yes swine flu is rife in some areas and scarlet fever

Esmeismyhero · 31/03/2016 18:58

A an endr said to take her down but it's possible they won't do bloods if they don't feel necessary

Time to get serious
Start mentioning contacting pals and ask what the NICE guidelines are for treating children with these symptoms
You need to take her back
Now

arethereanyleftatall · 31/03/2016 19:07

I'd be more inclined to listen to what doctors who've seen her say, rather than non-medical strangers who haven't.

Badders123 · 31/03/2016 19:11

I used to feel that way until medical negligence killed my dad and almost killed my mother and son

Drs make mistakes and the nhs is under funded....decisions are made based on financial considerations not on medical need
Ime children are often left at home coping with onditions that adults wod be admitted for

SausagesAndLaughter · 31/03/2016 19:13

So basically the Dr is telling you to dose her up on painkillers and let her ride it out? Fuck sake. She is vomiting blood, painkillers are only going to make it worse and just mask the symptoms even more.

I hope you get answers, OP. Fingers crossed your DD gets well soon Flowers

arethereanyleftatall · 31/03/2016 19:13

Fair enough, and I'm sorry about your dad. It's just I'm worried everyone is scaring the op.

MiniCooperLover · 31/03/2016 19:15

OP my niece was much less obviously unwell than your DD and my SIL was told it's a virus and to ride it out. Thankfully she took her to A&E where she was admitted with sepsis and has been left with long term health issues. Please don't be scared of the blood tests. Take her back x

arethereanyleftatall · 31/03/2016 19:17

If I've read this right, op is at the doctors as we all type.

lostindevon · 31/03/2016 19:27

I'd be off to a different hospital in a flash.
Good luck, I really hope it's not serious xx

Bungleboggs · 01/04/2016 07:12

Hope you have had a good night Op, how is she this morning x

threeelephants · 02/04/2016 12:45

Hope your DD is doing ok, OP.
