OH was looking at potential holidays. Great

He found a weeks all inclusive holiday for the 5 of us at the end of May in a hotel with awesome water slides and great reviews...

..its just me who feels anxious and I cannot explain why. I guess i am nervous about Isis and how unsafe the world feels at the moment.

I think I might be being utterly ridiculous. Would you book a family holiday abroad at the moment? Is there anywhere you just wouldn't want to go to?

There was someone on the radio yesterday saying you're far more likely to be killed in a road traffic accident than in a terrorist attack. Your chances of being involved in a terrorist attack are so small they are virtually incalculable. But terrorist attacks get more publicity than road accidents just because they are so rare.

Btw, if you're worried about RTA's, the worst place is Thailand.

Would be interesting to know which are the most dangerous places for tourists in terms of actual statistics.

I would still go OP, but that's me, I visit Jordan every year and don't plan on stopping anytime soon. However, there's no point booking a holiday if you're not going to relax when you are there.

Quite flummoxed as to people saying it's so cheap because no one wants to travel there - just priced same holiday as last year , same date, same tour operator (thomsons) and its £700 dearer this year ..Confused

I probably wouldn't choose Turkey right now. The actual risk of being caught up in anything is probably infinitesimally small, but at the end of the day it's a holiday and you have a choice about whether or not to travel. If you're not going to feel relaxed, there's no real point going at all.

I'm in London and use the tube every day, I probably have far more chance of being blown up on the way to work - but it's a necessity, it's not a leisure activity. I wouldn't take a trip on the Central Line to unwind.

We are also going to Lykia World in August. I am not in the least bit concerned about terrorism in that part of Turkey. We are becoming as bad as the Yanks for getting all scaredy cat about travel.
