I am wanting some inspiration for myself and for the DC. Children's and adults books of any age and genre, fiction and non fiction. Basically what I am asking is if there are books that are great enough to be hands down your childhood favourites / your DC favourites / your own favourites then please pass on your recommendations. Thank you Smile

One that I've always enjoyed, but weirdly, forget that I enjoy until I then pick one up again and remember why I love it: PG Wodehouse's Jeeves and Wooster stories.
Just been reading them in the bath, sniggering away, and the water went tepid because I didn't want to stop. Just wonderful.

My absolute favourite adult books is Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. It's a super fun nerdy, adventure, romance, 80s nostalgia novel, which is often described as willy wonka meets the Matrix. I've listened to the audiobook about 8 times and it's awesome (read by Wil Wheaton, who does an amazing job of it).

Some fantastic choices!

My daughter loves The Gruffalo, Peepo, The Tiger that Came to Tea and the Meg and Mog books. Dogger by Shirley Hughes is lovely too.

For older children I recommend The Dark is Rising Sequence, The Earthsea Trilogy and ANYTHING by Joan Aiken (especially the entire Wolves of Willoughby Chase Sequence) - she is fantastic and an obvious influence on Neil Gaiman (who is a great choice for teens).

For children aged about 6 onwards, you MUST read the fabulous How to Train Your Dragon books, by Cressida Cowell. They are superb, hilarious, witty, exciting and so well written. I love them as much as my kids! There are about 12 in the series and they are so gripping!

Oh god I forgot the mog books! Mog the cat. Makes me laugh. The illustrations are brilliant. Sorry, can you tell I'm a passionate reader? Wink. Mein kampf is an interesting read also, if you're big on nazi Germany as I am. Ahem, as you were.
