To go to a slimming club and not follow their plan

I want to lose weight.

I think I'd like to meet others as well and have that 'group support' but I know SW/WW won't work for me - plan to do something else - but WIBU to join anyway just to see weight loss and for the 'social' aspect?

I would curren but it's not exactly lying to mislead the police or something is it? :)

I don't think I expressed an opinion on you lying people either way. I asked a question.

I am confused why you want to socialise with a group of people that you are planning on lying to, to socialise with.

As I said in my first post, it's up to you. But If I was wanting group support and to socialise I wouldn't pick a group I would need to lie to. Certainly wouldn't pay a fiver a week for it either.

You could use your GP surgery for support - see the nurse every month for weighing while following your own diet/exercise plan at home.

Hmm I don't find them very sociable either. My local SW is full of women who were already friends and came to the group together, so not really on the look out for pals.

How about joining an exercise type group? My local buggy fitness group was quite social as they were all new mums. Or places like running clubs seem to do a lot together. Try meetup.com and see what sporty stuff is in your area.

Like a pp has said its a lot of money to stand on some scales if you are not going to make use of other plan material that a membership provides. I do ww's and my group is mainly elderly ladies (I'm early 30's) and they have very different lifestyles to me, so the support is pretty non existent. Although I believe Facebook can be the root of all evil there are some good weight loss groups that can be very motivating. Good luck with the weight loss!

Normally I'd agree re exercise but have an injury so that makes it difficult. That said it does appear to be improving so definitely for the future :)

The problem with online is people very soon start lecturing you over what you should be doing, you don't really get that in RL!
