Lighthearted

Slept in till 10am
Had bacon sarnie and two brews
Took the dog for a long walk in the sun
Ex came round with the DC, we all played in the garden.
I made the best roast chicken dinner in the history of roast chicken dinners. Ex and I shared a bottle of Wine
We had trifle
He then took the DC back to his
I am now drinking more Wine in a tidy and quiet house and watching serial killer documentaries.
Will have a long hot bath before getting into my freshly made bed and sleeping alone (DS sleeps with me usually).

Who can beat that Grin

I spent last night in a rather lovely hotel room after work do, so woke and had fabulous shower, cooked breakfast and then headed home. Had a nap this afternoon, cooked dinner, lounged about. Not a bad day

lovelychops · 25/03/2016 21:28

Stick with making a murderer it's amazing

Titsywoo · 25/03/2016 21:31

My day was a lovely idea but not in reality!

Got up later but was woken at 7 because I had forgotten to cancel my normal alarm. Drifted back off then was woken at 8.30 by the builders next door (who are apparently working all weekend!). Took dog for a lovely walk in the countryside (best bit of the day). Went to garden centre to buy compost then set to work in the garden making a 3 metre long flower bed. It was bloody hard work (stupid clay soil) and now my arms ache like buggery and I'm knackered.

DrHarleenFrancesQuinzel · 25/03/2016 21:32

I got up early for a 5 mile run, then we all (me DH and 3 DCs) went out for breakfast before doing our weekly shopping. Then I came home checked FB and discovered lots of people were doing really lovely things today as the weather was so nice and with it being a bank holiday. I went and mowed the lawn annoyed i wasnt going for a nice long country walk/seaside/beer garden.

I know there was nothing stopping me with or without DCs going somewhere, but I wanted us all to go. DH doesn't like the great outdoors as much though.

At least my garden looks better now.

Ackvavit · 25/03/2016 21:33

Lovely thread, not moany. Good to hear nice stuff. I've too had a nice day. Early get up, but by choice, read more of the great Moranifesto - Caitkin Moran, awesome book, dropped DC at gym, went to different gym for old people like me, great workout, home for fresh coffee hot cross buns and sunshine. Few visitors, then decent rugby match between local rivals, lots of old aquitances, which was nice. Home, prepped nice meal, prepared for Easter visitors, properly watched the BBC One "Walking in Judas Footsteps" prog... You must watch it, with atheist DP , he loved it. Happy Easter x

I had a very tough and stressful week at work this week, and it was my first week of not being ill in ages (had an epic flu virus thingy that lasted almost 3 weeks and has left me feeling so down and weak Sad)...but had a lovely day today Grin.

Lovely DH has decided I need to be pampered this weekend (my birthday on Monday), so I am well and truly lapping it up Grin,

Today he gave me a lie-in, then made us all a a fry-up.
DH then took DC to the park on their bikes, while I went and had a facial, manicure and pedicure.
Came home and had a little afternoon nap
DH made a roast dinner and bought wine and chocs for me
he is now tidying up while I watch tV in bed.

Tomorrow he is taking the DC to a football match and has booked me a massage. I'm going to take myself out for lunch afterwards Grin.

Feeling very relaxed and lucky.

Flowers to all who are poorly or working!

Lovewhereilive · 25/03/2016 21:35

Good for you! Great that you get on so we'll with your ex - brilliant for your dcs.
I had a lie in, spent most of the day in the garden, gardening and playing with the boys as its been a gorgeous day! Had a little walk in the woods near us and collected firewood. Then had a fire outside and ate pizza and drank prosecco whilst ds2 and ds3 played footie in the garden. Lovely day.

cornishglos · 25/03/2016 21:36

Can't beat it. And I love that you can count your blessings. Mine was unexpectedly good too though.
Husband had to work in town so I took the DCs to a cafe where they were well behaved and I ate s yummy salad.. In-laws came over, went for a long walk in the sunshine that ended in ice-cream. Waited in the pub with MIL and kids for a lift home. Fish and chips for dinner. In-laws gone, kids in bed, drink in hand.

Kraggle · 25/03/2016 21:36

It was our dd's third birthday so dh and I have been hosting relatives and watching her open presents and eat cake!

TVC15 · 25/03/2016 21:37

chops I'll give it another chance.

Harleen I deactivated my Facebook a few months ago. Took me a long time to realise what an insidiously negative thing it is. Getting rid has been extremely liberating! For me anyway. Good job on the garden though!

Op that sounds lovely!! I had a shit good Friday. Ds1 has bad conjunctivitis, he then fell off his bed and gave himself a black eye and then he fell over and grazed his forehead. Dh had to work tonight ds1,didn't want him to leave and screamed for what felt like hours, the crying made his eyes worse and he got so worked up he had an accident while crying on me, I was bf ds2 so I ended up covered in pee until Ds2 was finished and I could move to sort everyone out. I'm in bed now hoping tomorrow will be better.

Jaimx86 · 25/03/2016 21:43

Spa day, including a massage I forgot I'd booked(!!). Spent most of the day in the outdoor pool in the sun with rather hunky men bringing out drinks.
Two course lunch with a cocktail- followed by a 2 hour nap by the pool.

Now at a luxury caravan where il be in a 'staycation' until Wednesday.

Pretty fab Friday.

NorksAreMessy · 25/03/2016 21:52

Ooo, me too, I had a very good Friday.
Haircut...just how I wanted it.
Two breakfasts (cereal at 5.30 am because the dogs think that is when mornings start at the moment, but walking round the garden eating it and listening to the dawn chorus was utterly magical).
Poached eggs at 11am on very perfect bread from local baker.
Spent the morning finishing and framing pictures for an exhibition next month and they came out really well. This bit always takes forever, but is so satisfying
Then the BOY CAME BACK from University, really happy and cheerful and is having a fantastic time.
Potter round the fields with the boy and dogs in afternoon sunshine.
Delicious fishy dinner with hollandaise sauce
Made 50 tiny Fimo ice creams this evening for a project next week

If all good Fridays could be that good, I would be very content.

TalkinPeace · 25/03/2016 21:52

woke up with the sun
DH made tea
read New Scientist
he went out for a bike ride, kids went to the gym
read part of the Economist
more tea
went to dig / prep / plant in my veg garden
break for bread and cheese lunch
more veg garden
then stick burning fire
then pizza
a perfect day

HerRoyalNotness · 25/03/2016 21:55

We went to the park with friends then all decided to go to the Mexican for lunch and had a margarita. Home to sit in the sun, scored a free outdoor table off the neighbour (so happy as we can't afford to buy one just now), having a BBQ and the DC will roast some marshmallows later.

And have an early night. Seeing as the little cherubs were awake at 4.30am on their iPads 😁

CuppaSarah · 25/03/2016 23:34

Sounds lovely!

I had a pretty brilliant one too, me and DD played and watched films snuggled up on the sofa. 12wo DS belly laughed for the first time. We fed the ducks down the canal and had a giggle at the hissy swan. DD didn't have a single tantrum or toilet accident and her speech has nearly caught up with her peers in the last few weeks. Then DS went to bed nice and early and me and DD had a bath together. Now DH is out with friends and I have the evening on my own, listening to old Irish drinking songs.

ShtoppenDerFloppen · 26/03/2016 02:23

Crappy one here.

Spent the day trying to get my garden to look like something respectable, then came back inside just in time for DD to start vomiting.

That was about 7. She is still at it. Confused

StrawberrytallCake · 26/03/2016 02:28

Day was nice - we are taking a break with 2 children in a hotel. At midnight dc1 woke up projectile vomiting and has just gone to sleep sitting up next to dh, dc2 is wide awake and insisting she won't sleep. Dc1 and I have been sharing a toothbrush (I know, I know) and it's not looking or feeling good for me.

StrawberrytallCake · 26/03/2016 02:47

Nor thing like vomit mixed with the prospect of chocolate eggs to put you off Easter for good.

iamEarthymama · 26/03/2016 03:22

Oh no to the people with poorly, sicky kids!
Little one I have been looking after this week has that bug, I am praying I don't get it.
I had a lovely, lovely day. 😊
Little lie in til 9am, GF hot cross bun for breakfast, (M&S, was ok) then over to our allotment for only our second full day this year.
(We have become more politically involved locally and lots of weekends taken up with relevant activities, plus months of rain here, particularly at weekends)
We achieved so much, cleaned out greenhouse, tied nearly all of the beds, cut back the brambles, which we cultivate as a barrier and source of blackberries. Cleaned pots and trays, met up with lots of plotholders and welcomed and helped some new ones.
Had a huge bonfire at sunset, one of the best parts of having an allotment is seeing the sun set behind the mountains, with a cider in hand and a fire smouldering away as DW gets more and more smokey and slightly singed about the hair. Smile
Then home through the dark to have a bath while earlier prepared vegetable and bean casserole and jacket potatoes cooked in the oven.
Watched first episode of new Line of Duty and crawled up to bed to sink into bed feeling, as DW said, "good tired".
Then my dodgy knee started playing up which is why I am on here but still grateful for a fab day.

BoxofSnails · 26/03/2016 03:37

Great day - spent much of it at church, as it's such a powerful and emotional day for us. I am feeling well for the first little while in over a year and I am able to be of service again. Made a new fishy recipe and saw DH's daughter and grandson. Busy but happy things.

herecomesthsun · 26/03/2016 03:57

Beach with kids who played nicely and tried to bury each other. Fish and chips on a veranda overlooking the sea. Ice creams sitting in the sun. Hot cross buns for tea. Nice warm bath to wash the sand off. Mumsnet Grin

InionEile · 26/03/2016 03:59

Bacon and chicken AND alcohol on Good Friday? With a dessert of trifle??

You are on the express train to hell with those abominations to the Lord our God.

I was a good Catholic and had fish for dinner. Grin
