If you work with a company and you don't get paid when you're sick, is there a benefit?

I get it wouldn't be JSA, is there sick pay, from the government?

Statutory Sick Pay. I think you can only claim after a certain number of days and your employer pays you but they claim it back off t' government.

You may be eligible for SSP from day 4 if you are employed. The criteria is shown here.

After 3 days absence you can get a few quid a day in SSP. It's fairly complicated to administer though.

You can claim SSP, but I think you have earnt over a certain amount/week for the past 28 weeks (or similar) to qualify.

Where I am, you get it from day 4 of your absence. Your manager gets a form and fills in the details, you sign it and they send it off for you. Then you get basic SSP. It's not much but better than nothing if you're struggling for money.

It will depend on your contract (worker or employee) and earnings level. If you look at the link it explains it all and options if you don't qualify.
