Aibu - I spend mostly all day everyday in the company of my just turned one year old. If I am away from him for more than 2 hours I get incredible anxiety that he's missing me and I'm not being a good mum. Aibu or do others feel the same?

I was like this with my twins until I returned to work (part time) when they were 8 months. I found the anxiety definitely fades although I do still miss them and think of them lots through the day.

I've watched them with their childminder and they are really happy, I also asked her to ring if they are ever upset but there's been no need. I definitely miss them more than they miss me!

I really think it's better to get them used to being with other people as pre school or school will possibly be much harder if they've only ever been with you.

YANBU, I went back to work when my LO was 14 months and I cried every morning for weeks, but to be honest I think I missed him more than he missed me, and after he settled in with the childminder, he really bonded with her and had a fab time and my worries/ anxiety went away very quickly. It is hard though if you are not used to leaving them.

Yanbu I feel the same
Ds is 9 months I was ill and very contagious the other day and my mum eventually talked me in to letting her watch him for a few hours to try to avoid him catching the sickness bug. He did anyway. I sobbed when he left I missed him all day. And was just watching the clock waiting for him to be dropped off. In between throwing up !

I couldn't even take a shower when my first born ds was little without thinking he would be lonely Grin So I totally understand and didn't go back to work until my first DS was 2, even then I hid behind the corner of the childminders to see what was going on. It's very natural.

When I had the second, it was very different! Grin
