school suspension

Just wondering what people think. If a child is suspended from school for a couple of days would you expect the rest of the class/school to be told by the teacher? Wouldn't it be a confidentiality issue?

I generally know less about why pupils have been suspended than the other kids. I can't think of a situation where a pupil has been suspended for anything less than violence or racist abuse. The kids tell me "X is excluded for hitting Y", or " A is in internal exclusion for swearing at Miss B".

Breakfast that is unacceptable. You need to have a full conversation with the head.

BreakfastMuffin · 21/03/2016 19:45

Msmermaid - that would be me 2 weeks ago.

Sorry xpost. The school really does need to be dealing with the bullies. At this stage I would be seriously thinking about changing school.

Goingtobeawesome · 21/03/2016 20:16

We're in a situation where the bully should be permanently excluded but they have chosen to not follow their own policies Hmm. As per, bully at school, victim at home.

twelly · 21/03/2016 20:28

I think it is a confidential matter as to the actual incident. It sounds that the school have not addressed the issue at all

Buzzardbird · 21/03/2016 20:37

That's awful, did the school call you in to discuss the incident? What action are they taking with the bullies?

ElementaryMyDear · 21/03/2016 20:44

The real issue here is the bullying. I suggest you get hold of the school's bullying, discipline and complaints policies and ask for an early meeting with the head to ask for his or her detailed plans to ensure your child is safe in school.

TheChimpParadox · 21/03/2016 20:58

Appeal the exclusion.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 21/03/2016 21:23

So let me get this straight. Your DS is bullied. The school fail in their legal duty of care and safe guarding, by. Doing nothing about it. Your DS decides. He's had enough and retaliates, and he is suspended.
I the relevant authorities would be interested in this, as well as the local press.

BreakfastMuffin · 21/03/2016 21:28

Yes I think it would be an interesting read!

Did he swear at a member of staff? That's usually grounds for suspension.

BreakfastMuffin · 21/03/2016 21:35

No, he didn't swear

Well I think the teacher comments are the least of your worries here... Two things...I assume you have the bullying policy by now..This needs to be escalated ...
However from all I have ever heard if you don't believe action is going to be taken look at moving schools.. It is too damaging to your own child
