To think that parking on the road and fucking shooting just isn't right

Just been jerked from bed by a really weird noise- looked out of the window and some jerk is lamping from the road behind my house. (By lamping I mean shining a bright light on to the field and then shooting anything that moves in it.) I don't know if they hit anything but they didn't even get out of the truck to check.

It's less than a 100ft from where they were shooting to my bedroom window FFS. I have it on video but you can't really see any details on the truck- you can bloody hear them shooting though!

(And I'm worried now- big cat got out tonight. Really hoping they didn't shoot her! :()

Do a Crocodile Dundee on them, you know, where the Kangaroos shot back! Lol

""This isn't illegal and they are most likely being paid by the landowner to be there. ""

It is illegal if they're shooting from inside the truck, right behind residential property.

I used to Lamp with my DP, occasionally, without permission, but only for rabbits and not where there was residential property.

Don't confuse legal and correct Lamping with an idiot sitting in a truck in possession of a Air Rifle.

My now ex DP still shoots Rabbits, on public land, but follows the safety rules and also uses extra caution.

We don't get police patrols where I live. I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen a police car around here.

I phoned 101 for advice last night but they didn't seem very interested and agreed that there wasn't much point in sending a car out. Do you think the actual police would be more interested? (As in taking the video to the station and showing it to them.)

It's worth showing the video to the police, and get the reg next time if you can. Think you have to be 50m from a public road to use a firearm (not sure) and can lose firearms licence for rule breaking.

You need to phone 101 and ask for the rural beat officer for your area - they are the ones to speak to and will be interested if only to help them build up a picture of what's going on.

It is illegal to discharge a firearm or shotgun from the public highway - you can lose your licence for this!

We farm and lamp for foxes (winter) and rabbits as a form of pest control. Our local police insist that we ring them in advance to let them know where we are shooting, how many guns are going out, vehicle reg and hat time we are starting. We also have to ring them when we are finished. As a matter of courtesy we also let our neighbours know when we are going out so they are expecting gunshots!

We do have a huge problem with illegal poaching and coursing in our area so the police act quite quickly to reports of gunshots at night.
