That's it really.
Would it be appropriate for a groom to wear:
Brown shoes, dark blue jeans white shirt and brown waistcoat for a wedding?
A bit like this?
Opinions please.

We're thinking v. Relaxed, converted barn and then pie and mash for supper w. A cake from choccywoccydodah then speeches, and photos and a bit of dancing then everyone goes home...

Now what do you all think?

I am going to watch all the comments about choccywoccydoodah cakes with interest. Specifically, I wonder if any lookeylikey companies have now emerged without the prices, and if anyone will be in a position to comment on the quality of the actual cakey bit.
Otherwise, OP, that sounds like my kind of wedding, and I'll PM you my address for an invite. Grin

iamEarthymama · 20/03/2016 20:52

Sounds lovely to me, but then my wife and I both wore brown and orange on our big day, and it was bring a bottle at the party!

I think the style in the photograph looks wonderful....we need some idea of what you will be wearing too!Smile

targaryen · 20/03/2016 20:53

Agree it's your day, you can choose to have it how you want it to be.
What will you be wearing ?

Floggingmolly · 20/03/2016 20:54

Is the actual ceremony in the barn, op? If it is, it sounds great. Walking up the aisle it would just look gauche, imo. The cake sounds magnificent too Grin

Muskateersmummy · 20/03/2016 20:54

Sounds lovely! But yes... What are you planning on wearing? (I love a good nosy at someone else's wedding!!)

WutheringFrights · 20/03/2016 20:54

I think that sounds bloody lovely!

Mind you DH wore a skirt to our wedding.

Sorry! Kilt! He wore a kilt! Grin

BaronessBomburst · 20/03/2016 20:55

Sounds like a wedding worth going to! Grin

FeedMyFaceWithJaffaCakes · 20/03/2016 20:59

A tea length dress I think...
White/ivory or something I think...
Nothing too...much.
And flat shoes! I can't walk in high heels Blush

SuburbanRhonda · 20/03/2016 20:59

Completely depends on what you're wearing, OP.

SuburbanRhonda · 20/03/2016 21:00

What's tea length?

SuperCee7 · 20/03/2016 21:00

OH was very tempted but couldn't be bothered with the aggro his family would have given him. He wore converse though... (Yes with a suitHmmGrin)

SuburbanRhonda · 20/03/2016 21:00

So you're wearing a white or ivory dress and he's wearing jeans? Hmm

FeedMyFaceWithJaffaCakes · 20/03/2016 21:01

I also love this for groom..
Slightly smarter.
I said he could only wear jeans if MN said he could, and if I picked them (they do some "dressy" jeans in Levis!) and if he wore smart Brown shoes Smile

As a teenager, I nearly got married by accident to the best man as the bride and groom both wore biker leathers and the registrar got confused as to who was getting married and I was wearing a dress.
You can wear what you like at your own wedding, surely? Just be prepared to let the opinions of others slide off you.

FeedMyFaceWithJaffaCakes · 20/03/2016 21:04

If that's okay with you, Rhonda Angry
I'll wear what I feel goes with our day!

Something relaxed, tea length is a bit shorter I guess.
I kinda like this style.

Super what did you wear?
I think I just want a really relaxed feel, we're looking at August dates and I do not want to be trussed up like a chicken too hot.

I think if you were wearing a tea dress it would be fine . If you were wearing a bridal dress then no , he needs to look more formal

red333 · 20/03/2016 21:09

Your wedding sounds lovely. I want to come!! Halo

EduCated · 20/03/2016 21:09

Sounds great to me!

ethelb · 20/03/2016 21:09

Friends of ours got married in similar outfits to what you are wearing and looked lovely. It was an outdoor ceremony with the reception in a yurt and everyone looked great. Smart but relaxed and happy.

Muskateersmummy · 20/03/2016 21:10

Love that dress jaffa ... I think it will all look fab Smile

ctjoy103 · 20/03/2016 21:11

I think your dress is lovely. But I would look at your dp and think he could have made an effort. Can't he wear a more formal pants as an in between. Not suit pants, but not jeans either.

Ameliablue · 20/03/2016 21:11

If the bride let's him then sure.

ethelb · 20/03/2016 21:12

Notnowpike, in what way is that dress not bridal? If a bride wears it it is bridal imo.

Plus, you know, it is white and lacy....
