... and not have to click on it and open it first?

Sometimes I do cynically wonder if the site has been designed with number of clicks given a huge priority over ease of use/navigation by MN members.

You can, on all the platforms.
In Active on non-mobile site, you just click the - sign next to the title. And on the mobile site you just click hide.

JanetOfTheApes · 20/03/2016 18:38

You can do it in MN new, thats what I'm on.

CoteDAzur · 20/03/2016 18:49

I can on Safari. It's the "Hide" button right next to the name of the thread in Active.

Sparklingbrook · 20/03/2016 18:50

I have no -sign or hide button that I can find on Chrome.

Nothing. BUT i had a rummage in Customise and it's an option. So I changed No to Yes on one of the list and now I have a - sign on the right hand sign on threads in Active. Hope it works.

Sparklingbrook · 20/03/2016 19:29

This was the question I changed from 'no' to 'yes'

Put "hide" link on Active Conversations? (hide selected threads from Talk), show thread options on mobile:

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 20/03/2016 19:31

I'm on Chrome, it's to the right of thread title, started by and latest by columns.

RatOnnaStick · 20/03/2016 19:32

You can as others have already said. And Usual I have 1000 posts per page option on new.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 20/03/2016 19:32

I seem to have lost Customise though Blush

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 20/03/2016 19:33

Found it Smile

Well that was depressing. Hid almost the entire Active list. Not sure that's how it should be.

Sparklingbrook · 20/03/2016 19:36

Oh no usual that's new memberist. Angry

bibbitybobbityyhat · 20/03/2016 19:37

I've reported your post RatOnnaStick and asked HQ to talk me though setting things up so that I can have 1000 posts on a page. I will update the thread when I hear.

Xposts. Sounds like a good idea. I bet loads of people old and new have never realised about it.

RatOnnaStick · 20/03/2016 19:40

Sad. What if you put the side bollocks back? Will it work then?

My Customise page doesn't look anything like that Rat. How do I do a screen shot, then I'll show you? I'm on a laptop.

BertieBotts · 20/03/2016 19:41

It's odd, I'm sure you used to be able to do it. I disabled it because I kept hitting it by mistake but it's great for thread titles which make me feel sick or anxious or ones which I know will be a bunfight and draw me in and I don't have the time!

bibbitybobbityyhat · 20/03/2016 19:46

I possibly missed the hoo ha.

I definitely do not have the option to hide threads from active conversations and there are no minus signs or buttons on thread titles or next to thread titles.

I think HQ should reinstate those options, I really do! So that me and all the other newbies could hide threads instantly without having to open them and increase the click rate. Somehow that extra click just makes the task seem more onerous and irritating.
