And that those without kids who park in them should get bollocked?

I can never get parked in one & today a woman trying to park in the space next to me BEEPED at me struggling to attach the car seat to the pram because she couldn't get in beside me. The baby spaces were opposite, no spaces for me, and of the 4 people In them I saw get in or out of their cars, absolutely none had children Angry

The bloody spaces aren't even closer to the doors so no idea why they insist of taking up space.

I'm sure there's been threads on this before but need to rage & OH sick of my driving stories haha

I'm sure you coped PaulAnka. Probably would have been easier if there was larger spaces available though, wouldn't it? And shops now provide them. Some people misuse them. It's ok to be annoyed at that.

thefairy to ensure other twat drivers don't park Close to my passenger door so I can't get the seat back in, especially in bad weather. Haven't had to use a council or hospital car park yet, imagine it'll be a farce.

Technically then my father could park in one with me. He is a parent, I am a child. There is no clearly labelled age restrictions on these bays.

Maybe not driving a tank may help..? Who knows..

My hospital actually doesn't have p&c so people tend to park horizontally it's a farce there

ducky they were available Confused I just didn't think it necessary to use as it's not that awful parking in a normal space.

Freespirit, Tesco actually give out p&c badges for the car and it says on those badges for babies to 4 years

I have also never seen a paren and child space close to the shop. Disabled yes, never p&c

In our Sainsburys they are right next to the door. The disabled are across the car park up a hill. I park in the P&C (I have a blue badge) and have told the manager of Sainsburys and their head office why.

Our local supermarket (in fact both Tesco and Sainsbury's, now I think about it) has them round the corner down a slight path and it is great. Plenty of people with children use them but they are just slightly out of the way for anyone lazy to be using them.

Sounds ideal hedgehogsdontbite and a result- they are there if people want them.

Having dealt regularly with supermarket car parks with three small children before P&C spaces were invented, I find it remarkably difficult to get worked up about these issues.

I'm with Paul, I can't be arsed to wait for a P&C space so just use a regular space and manage to get DD2 out just fine, just as I did with DD1. I guess if you had twins it wpuld be trickier, but with one baby I've certainly never struggled to get them in and out of the car. If you park at the far end of the car park you usually end up with empty spaces next to you anyway, as most people seem to try and park as close to the shop as possible.

Too hard, do you park over two spaces yet it is other drivers who are "twat drivers" ?

sirzy no, hence why I was beeped at today & have, in the past, been unable to get the car seat back in the car. I'm a courteous driver

Surely it take seconds to get a baby out the car, so just ignore the beeper get out the way as quick as you can and get on with your day. Can't see the issue really.

If you've got a small, 3 door city car what the fuck is the fuss about?

Pulls into p&c space, gets out popcorn, drink, ipad and waits. Wink

You have to get chassis from the boot, attach adapters, attempt to get seat out without bashing nearby cars, line up seat with adapters (hard to do when you're a short arse)

thefairy because doors aren't magically smaller & still need to open Hmm

3 door car doors are longer. And you have to open them fully to get to the back & strap a seat in. I imagine that's the problem.

Sirzy · 15/03/2016 16:42

Ahh so you have a complicated pram, that's your fault not anyone else's!

I hardly ever park in them, the other weekend I did. Got a horrific look from the couple who had just parked next to me, they made a big deal out of displaying their blue badge on their dash. Then as I was leaving the car with my toddler and husband I heard her remark the misuse of disabled spaces was disgraceful. They were parked in a parent and child space, without a child clearly believing they were in a disabled space. I had a private chuckle about the irony of it all, and gave them a smile. Grin

The doors on our VW Polo are smaller than on our VW Golf. The doors on DS2's 3 door Clio are smaller than DS1's 3 door BMW.

I agree with you Op, the people who park without a care are usually selfish in all aspects of their life.

I don't see why they don't just move them to the back of the store, I now go to 1 tesco a 15 min drive just as i know they are at the back of the store so lazy people dont bother with them. yes they are convenient but they don't need to be right at the front of the shop, I can never understand why they are, some shops i've been in they are closer than the disabled spaces.

And for the 1st time ever I went to sainsburys with my baby this morning and saw a man patrolling the child and disabled spaces.

Move them to the back or just get rid and make the spaces wider. This is why I love costco for their big spaces at an angle, no problem to get in and out of with a baby car seat.
