Have you got a reliable link , not the faily mirror.

What, paying tax credits at a rate linked to the claimant's income? Can see how that is so wrong. Pay everyone £1m a day and make life better.

LuisSuarezTeeth · 15/03/2016 00:23

Just read it.

The basics in the article are correct.

Awards of tax credits are initially based on the previous year's income. If the recipient's actual income is more than their income the previous year they will have received more than their entitlement. However, if their actual income exceeds their previous year's income by less than £5,000 they are allowed to keep the overpaid tax credits. The government is reducing that figure to £2,500.

There is nothing to read apart from what that idiot Mcdonall thinks.

Nobody else seems to have the story yet.

I can't see any reason to doubt the Mirror on straight parliamentary reporting of a late night session.

This is a BBC story from October with the back story;

Why shouldn't tax credits be linked to income?

"Lowering the maximum annual pay rise that is disregarded to £2,500 will simply return the system to the same level as when tax credits were first introduced. By definition there will be no losers because people’s increase in income will outstrip any reduction to their tax credit award.

They are simply administering it more fairly.

What's the problem there?
