To give up on my left boob

I'm pretty fed up with my left boob. I express every 4 hours and get about 5oz per time, 4 from the right and 1 from the left. Nothing I've tried has made any difference. I was doing the left one every 2 hours during the day and it made sod all difference and took up too much time. Is there anything else I can do to improve supply or should I just give up on it. Tbh I look a bit lopsided Confused

I cant remember the reason why but it's quite common for the right breast to produce more milk, mine certainly did and my baby always preferred to feed from that side.

I've been exclusively expressing for my preterm twins for over 4 months. Better supply on the right for me as well. I think it's really important to eat a hands free bra and double pump. Otherwise it's so easy to get disheartened and give up on the lower supply side. If you know you are going to do 30 mins double pumping with the hands free set you just set yourself up with a TV program or something on your phone, hook yourself up and try not to think about it. It's worth using the free hand to massage the lower supply boob, that can really help things along. Well done and good luck!

My DC always preferred the right one too! I could never express anywhere near as much from the left either. In fact DC3 used to cry when I tried to put her on the left boob so I'm pretty certain I almost exclusively fed from the right side for the year I BF'd!

Kudos to you though. I was shite at expressing. You're doing well.

DisappointedOne ds1 was breastfed until he was 3 and has always been rake like with hollow legs - your dd may just be the way she is because of genetics that aren't obvious - ds1 gets his from his grandfather.

Yes, it's possible. There was a photo doing the rounds on Facebook showing expressed milk from a breastfeeding mother with very different proportions of fat etc. My body only got signals re quantity rather than quality, and DD had bottles with fore and hind milk together, where breastfed babies would get them separately.

I don't know whether it made a difference, but it's not impossible that it did.

I saw that about the saliva giving messages to your body. She will latch on a couple of times a day so hopefully that will help. She likes breastfeeding to calm herself down, she really roots at my chest when she's upset and usually nods off after 5 minutes.
I've just bought a bra on Amazon, anything to make life a bit easier.

I had no idea this was so common. My rubbish one was my right boob which we all referred to as broken boob

I'm right handed and my left boob was always the good one.

Another crap left boob here! Right side of my body is always more switched on/stronger ie. I sweat more from right arm-pit, far more milk from right boob, right side of body muscles more sculpted...very odd.
DS gave up on my left boob in the end, I felt so sad for it!

I'm mainly bf'ing. Only expressing once a day. I get a lot less off the left too. Never experienced it before. He did prefer the right but that's stopped lately. Very marginal improvement but barely any. There was some initial nipple damage i'm wondering if the still healing scab is the cause for me. As there's a dry/ rough bit.

Right handed and right boob is the good one.

Right handed and right boob the only producer really. However, my left has a completely inverted nipple so latch was nigh on impossible. My sister is inverted on both sides and couldn't bf at all. Same as my aunt and nan iirc. It's a family trait apparently.

Right handed, right breast best producer however when she will latch on, she prefers the left. I am wondering if, being quite large of nork, the nipple shape is easier for her on the left?
