I love Paul O'Grady followed by Michael Ball on a Sunday. They're both warm and engaging and really natural. The music is a good mix too. Nothing challenging just uplifting, comforting stuff.

Steve Wright makes me want to hurl my radio through the kitchen window. #seriousjockin Aaaarrrghhh!

Wagglebees · 12/03/2016 13:09

I like the musicals show too although I wish Elaine Paige and her massive ego wasn't the presenter. That laugh can't be real.

TheHiphopopotamus · 12/03/2016 14:46

I used to like Chris Evans when he was on R1 but I can take him or leave him on R2.

Love Ken Bruce, who looks nothing like I imagined him. I was really surprised when I saw him on Pointless Celebs.

Love Graham Norton, Michael Ball and Paul O' Grady. Can't stand Steve Wright (agree with waggle about the #seriousjockin shite)

TheHiphopopotamus · 12/03/2016 14:47

Oh, and Jeremy Vine. Love him too. I may have a slight weird crush on him after Strictly.

iklboo · 12/03/2016 14:50

DS(10) loves Paul O'Grady. Can't wait till he's old enough to show him Lily Savage.......

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 12/03/2016 14:51

I may be pushing 50 but I still can't bring myself to admit I may be the target demographic for R2, it's always been what my parents generation listen to. DH puts it on quite often and the daytime shows are just dire, especially Chris Evans, although he's marginally less toe curling than Terry Wogan was. Some of the early evening specialist shows (Paul Jones etc) are ok though.

Postitblue · 12/03/2016 15:22

I've been a R2 lover since I was 26🙈 Maybe I am just old before my time! When grimmy took over the R1 breakfast show I just couldn't face it any more- smuggy smarm he is.

I like most shows during the week apart from Jeremy Vine. He has anything but a balanced view (try getting on his show when it's a subject you're involved with and you'll find they only want inflammatory, more extreme views). I'm steaming listening to him for more than ten minutes and would rather switch off than suffer his whole show. I'm depressed to hear so many of you like his show. I like some weekend shows, but dislike quite a lot too.

Potterwolfie · 12/03/2016 15:34

Loved R2 since my teens, though Steve Wright needs to retire, Ken Bruce is pretty boring, I like Chris Evans, love Jeremy Vine and Simon Mayo, adore Dermot and Graham Norton and Jo Wiley. Can't do sounds of the 60s or Sunday mornings/afternoons.

BorderTerrierControl · 12/03/2016 15:35

I'm with honeyroar when it comes to Jeremy Vine. Whiny-voiced, goady little shite.

Framboisier · 12/03/2016 15:40

Listening right now! I can listen to everything except Elaine Page. Favourites are Liza Tarbuck and Jo Whiley.

I quite like it when Craig Charles covers for people, and I love his 6Music show on a sat.

Thurlow · 12/03/2016 15:43

I love Paul O'Grady. Sunday tea time roast and then the washing up listening to him, lovely stuff. It's like having a fun uncle around for a chat. DP listens 8 bloody hours a day to Talk Sport and Radio 5, but Paul O'Grady is the one programme we agree on.

I don't mind Elaine Page, but mainly because I have a weak spot for the show tunes.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 12/03/2016 15:46

We should swap Thurlow - I listen to 5Live (or 4) all the time and DH switches the kitchen radio to R2 the moment my back is turned.

shakeatailfeather · 12/03/2016 16:16

I like R2 except for Steve Wright. Its so much better when someone sits on for him. I tend not to listen to JV, but more because the callers annoy me. I love Ken Bruce,he makes me laugh and Popmaster is fun. Michael Ball is always a favourite and Johnny Walker too.

I have been listening to R2 out of choice since I was about 30 (8 years ago).

MrsMook · 12/03/2016 18:27

I've been listening since I was a teenager, I hate radio adverts. I'm happy with all the weekday day time presenters and Jo Wiley.

Not so keen on the weekend. I don't tend to listen on Saturdays after Sounds of the Sixties (That's your lot for this week, see you next week). Sunday, I'll tend to turn off when Elaine Paige starts laughing. A shame because I like Johnny Walker, so I'll listen to some of him before Paul O'Grady starts wittering on about dead pets. Michael Ball in the evening is good, and I like it when he covers Ken Bruce. I hope Richard Madeley stays on permanently.

TheHiphopopotamus · 12/03/2016 20:45

I hope Richard Madeley stays on permanently

I like RM. He's a complete tit, but there's something endearing about him. I wish he'd take over permanently for Matthew Wright on TWS. I might start watching it again if he did.

woody2976 · 12/03/2016 20:53

i do like ken Bruce i find his show strangely comforting and i love lynn. shes ace!

sadsister4 · 12/03/2016 20:55

Serious jockin'

WTAF?

IAmAPaleontologist · 12/03/2016 21:06

I've listened to radio 2 since my teens. Mike Harding, Bob Harris....

I may not have been a typical teenager Grin

My children can sing all the radio 2 jingles.

Postitblue · 12/03/2016 22:19

I do enjoy 'candyman' on the breakfast show too! Ah yes lynn Bowles- agree, very 'comforting' voice.

Yes to reiterate - love the show tunes but EPs chuckle is a bit wild! And Craig Charles has such a lovely voice for radio - so glad I'm not alone :)

ChasingPavements · 12/03/2016 22:24

I love R2. Love Chris Evans in the morning and like Ken Bruce too. JV is okay, but he does rather like the sound of his own voice. Cannot stand Elaine Page - she irritates the tits off me.

reallyneedmoresleep · 13/03/2016 00:01

I'm a huge R2 fan. My very favourite is when Sara Cox covers the breakfast show- I arrive at work smiling!

Wagglebees · 13/03/2016 01:23

I like RM. He's a complete tit, but there's something endearing about him

Grin Yes I have a soft spot for Richard Madeley (and Judy). He regularly puts his foot in it I know but he means well. I'd love it if they got Judy in to present with him. Like the good ol days.

whatsbehindthegreendoor · 13/03/2016 07:41

I love Radio 2 - I've even been on PopMaster and The Big Quiz back in the day! I love Ken Bruce and Simon Mayo and also think Sounds of the 60s and Sounds of the 80s are great shows too.
Not so fond of Steve Wright any more but only because of his annoying singing over records!
I don't think it's middle aged to listen to the station - in fact, I think I'm right in saying it's the most listened to station in the country.

BlueMoonRising · 13/03/2016 08:26

There's a lot of good stuff on r2.

But ditch Elaine Paige (patronising) and Liza Tarbuck (twee).

I still don't get the Terry Wogan love. All that peurile humour and the idiotic giggling to match. My drive to work was much improved when Chris Evans took over.
