Bloody HMRC have sent me a fine, that wipes out my tiny rebate!!!

Their online system had a repeat check after I pressed submit via digidentity, which I did, but they are now saying I didn't!!! Fucking BASTARDS. I need that £100!!

I too was terrified, having paid them an amount that I wasn't entirely sure I actually owed, to get a letter telling them that I now owed a further amount. So I rang up, (it took about ten minutes to get through), apologised immediately for being a bit vague about the details but explained my situation and it all got sorted there and then, and the further amount cancelled. Spoke to a really nice man who was, as PP said, fluffy.

I feel your pain.

My husband died in Jan and today I got a hundred quid fine letter from HMRC, addressed to his 'representative' but sent to my address. It acknowledged on the letter he was deceased.

Now, since they sent it to his home address they must have known it would get opened by someone close to him - e.g. most likely his wife!

Clearly, he has a pretty good excuse as does anyone who was living with him at the time!

Un fucking believable. Then again I expect nowt else from them.

Funnily enough, I am so sick of the platitudes at the start of official letters ('let me express my condolences') but it really annoyed me that HMRC didn't do this and waded straight in with their fine!

I called them and they cancelled it but I'm sure they will be on at me soon to do his tax return. Annoying as we had separated and he was a right tosser, truth be told.
