Writing on children's clothes, naff?

'Mummy's little monster", "I love the flowers" "Number 1 babe" and "Roar roar!" ...

Am I being unreasonable to think it's a little bit naff? Pictures, great, but not keen on writing all over kids clothes.

It bothers me because the only cheap shop I can buy clothes without writing all over is H&M. Otherwise it's mini Boden which can be £££

Yep so naff. I selectively shop at Next as some of their pieces are plain and Jojo and John Lewis own brand

I have never had s trouble buying slogan free t shirts from any cheaper shops.

Only H&M? Really? I have seen non slogan clothes in every single shop.

Each to their own but I also think it's naff and don't buy them for my children. I go to John Lewis, Gap, Petit Bateau, Trotters and Boden to avoid. There are also some lovely small French kids clothes shops near where I live (central London). I actually also don't really like pictures

We have an asda close by and they sell 3 packs of t-shirts and a very reasonable price. The top one will be fine, but the two underneath covered in bloody writing.

Ones which don't are from more expensive shops, it's frustrating on a budget.

I hate it too, but have never had a problem avoiding it in shops like Sainsbury's etc. Obviously they do sell slogan stuff too, but not exclusively.

Someone gave me babygro with 'I only cry when ugly people hold me' on it. Went straight to the charity shop. I manage to get slogan free clothes from lots of places, tu, tesco, nutmeg are all cheap. My ds does like pictures though. I also hate maternity wear with writing on it.

I got the mini Boden catalogue through yesterday so have been sitting reading it this morning. I was thinking oh what lovely prints and colours, no writing but £14.50 for a bloody t-shirt!

I never really got the writing / brand logos on clothes thing full stop tbh. Other people obviously do but it just looks strange to me.

I chose naff as I was purposefully trying to be carefully what word I used and couldn't think of another one half asleep

I don't think is a case of just cottoning on, Ds is 6 and in the last 6 years I have never had an issue

I've managed to buy non-slogan & slogan, sorry if that makes my children naff, in cheaper shops including the supermarkets.

This annoys me too, like a PO said, you'll be in Sainos and see some nice basic tops, but the bottom one will say something naff and another have a huge bow on it. I just want plain, different coloured tops that don't have stuff stuck on them. I can't explain why I don't like it, it's like the designers think they need to keep adding stuff to a perfectly fine top.

I've always found it really difficult in asda and Sainsburys.
