To take the day off work sick

I'm 14 weeks pregnant, serious heart condition, and still feeling permanently nauseous. I,ve been really quite sick this weekend. I had today booked off anyway but I really don't feel up to going to work tomorrow and am considering taking the day off sick, tbh the idea of making it through the day withiut vomiting seems impossible. DP is ranting that "I'll lose my job" and "I can't just take time off whenever I want" (I had two days off earlier in pregnancy when I was hospitalised due to the vomiting). I feel absolutely diabolical. One day sick really isn't being unreasonable, is it???

Go to GP and get a note. HG in pregnancy is really common, I've seen plenty of med certs for it, and maybe show the note to "dp" so he understands you have a serious medical condition and not some kind of malingering womens problem.

Thanks all. Work do know I'm pregnant so accepted my explanation of sickness with no problem. I really don't know what his issue is, he gets so stressed when I'm ill it comes out as arsehole-ness. He needs to pull a lot if things together before this baby arrives.
I'm on an anti sickness drug but it's having no effect the last few days :(

I was borderline HG. It is truly shit and because every thing you eat and drink get thrown up it leaves you with no energy and very tired.

You need rest and support.

Take all the time off you need.

Your 'd'p is an a-hole.

Go to the GP's and get a sicknote for as long as you need.

Oh you poor thing, with the anti sickness drugs not having any effect. I don't have any experience of really awful morning sickness. In my last and this pregnancy only had it mild and that was enough for me I guess I have been lucky.

Your partner does need to be a little more understanding, pregnancy is a big thing for your body to deal with.
Do go to the GP if it does not in prove, take all the time off you need.

I hope you have a lovely rest today Flowers

I was off sick a lot pregnant, and since having DD have had quite a few sick days. I don't get paid for any sick leave and money is tight so I only take them when I really am too ill to get to work.

I remember my dad ringing me to tell me in his day he had 30 yrs work without sick pay.

Can't stand that kind of bragging, if you're ill you're ill and if you are too ill to work, or you will make yourself worse by working you take the time you need to get yourself better, pregnant or not. if you're not then you work. Some people see it as some medal of honour that they got through the day ill.

Exactly pebble collector! Yey for them but ultimately my health is more important. I,m considering getting a line from the dr, I'm no better at all. Even 'd'p has asked if I'm ok "cos I look ill" - oh really!!!!!!!!
