To be annoyed that friend stood me up?

She was in x city for a few days so I decided to come down to see her this eve (we ordinarily live hundreds of miles away). Had to make plans to stay overnight and buy train fares. Slight mixup during the day when phone died; she didn't hear from me so made other dinner plans and is now too tired to do anything else! I don't think she realises I came down just for her...

Seems really odd to me that with all the arrangements that you did make, you didn't set a time for dinner.

(Either of you!)

Yes it sounds like you stood her up, she got fed up of waiting to hear from you and not being able to contact you, so made other plans. Not her fault yiur phone died and she dident hear from you. She thought you had stood her up.

I can see it from both sides and it just sounds like an unfortunate misunderstanding. Pre mobile phones you would have been fine but now it is expected to be contactable at all times to the point that if you are not contactable you are deemed to be at fault. However it would have been sensible to confirm the arrangements before booking train tickets and hotel rooms.
