Police / Dog A55 - Petition...?

Just seen this petition being shared, www.change.org/p/police-comissioner-north-wales-call-for-inquest-into-case-of-dog-being-killed-by-police-on-a55-road-north-wales

We are calling for an inquest into the case of a dog being purposely run down by police in North Wales (24/02/2016), many people believe this to have been inhuman and are looking for answers from authorities.

We would like to know why such a drastic decision was made and feel it was completely unjustified.

An investigation is required and if the verdict is deemed unruly then necessary action must be taken to ensure any guilty parties are dealt with accordingly

Surely, they realise that the police tried everything they could before resorting to this? at least thats what i think i have read?!

So OP, did you sign the petition or do you now agree that the police acted responsibly?

RudeElf · 26/02/2016 15:40

Surely, they realise that the police tried everything they could before resorting to this

Clearly not or else there wouldnt be the petition!

NotGonnaAnswerThePhone · 26/02/2016 15:56

Yes, careering down an unlit tunnel with other traffic around, whilst swerving to get at the dog was a much safer option.

FUN FUCKED UP DOGGY DODGEMS FTW

DoBananasWearPajamas · 26/02/2016 15:56

Oh no, i didnt go anywhere near signing it - I'm quite happy to say I thought (from what I read) the police did all they could and it was a last resort

probably the same kind of people who'd want a farmer arrested for shooting loose dogs in his sheep field.

scarlets · 26/02/2016 16:06

I love dogs and own one, but I am Team Police on this.

OurBlanche · 26/02/2016 16:09

Yes, like the ones round here last week.

All over facebook, their Dear Darlin' Doggie was shot dead, in front of them.

But many of us know the farmer. Dear Darlin' Doggie was no where near his owners, they were taking photographs of the pretty spring flowers. Dear Darlin' Doggie had mauled a number of sheep. Nasty Farmer put pictures up of the damage Dear Darlin' Doggie had done.

The police are involved. Dear Darlin' Doggie's owners are facing charges, I think!

Having attend the roadside on numerous occasions to assist the traffic police in dealing with injured animals I have personally seen the lengths they will go to safely capture animal. I have seen rolling road blocks on the M4 and roads closed to humane dispose of an injured horse or deer lying by the roadside by captive bolt ( the road has to be closed if a round is released).
To do what they had to do would have been the very last option.
In the dark in the pouring rain a multiple carriageway road is one of the scariest places if you are not in your car. A police officer had already been bitten in trying to capture the dog it was not going to just come meekly.

Sallyingforth "So OP, did you sign the petition or do you now agree that the police acted responsibly"

erm, not sure where you got the idea I didnt agree the police acted responsibly?

OurBlanche - you knew it wasn't me but wanted to drag my name into it, because I happend to be a poster who disagreed with the action taken? Not a very mature thing to do, I'm sure you wouldn't be impressed having your name dragged into every conversation about something you disagreed on. I would suggest you and StillDrSethHazlittMD grow the fuck up, but I doubt you'd take it on board. Just endlessly question me on how exactly you should that for 10 odd pages.

OurBlanche · 26/02/2016 16:50

Nope, not at all mature. But I have only mentioned a short form of your name once here and once on the other thread... maybe twice, as direct question/responses, which I don't think you had the courtesy to respond to!

I shall, I think, reflect upon it...

Savagebeauty · 26/02/2016 16:54

Amazing what some people waste their time doing.

Sallyingforth · 26/02/2016 17:55

I'm sorry bananas.
I went away to follow the link and missed your comment after it.

DoBananasWearPajamas · 26/02/2016 18:51

not a problem at all Sallyingforth - i do things like that all the time

What a ridiculous petition.

As ridiculous as the thread with all the bleeding heart hand-wringers saying how awful it was and how the police must be thick not to have had another solution.

Except the hand wringers must be thick too because they didn't have any solutions Hmm

PotatoesPastaAndBread · 26/02/2016 19:53

I'm with the police. Nothing else they could reasonably have done.
