fond, loving, close

FIL died the other week. Funeral, this Monday. I wasn't close to FIL, but it made me realise how much love I have for MIL. I missed her loads when she had to stay with him constantly, while he was ill, even though we only met up once every week or so. DH lso grew to realise how fond he is of his mum, through that time, even though he'd not really thought about it, before.

SquareholeRoundpeg · 25/02/2016 23:46

Loving, happy, respectful

DiscoGlitter · 25/02/2016 23:46

Lovely but undermining,

Moopsboopsmum · 25/02/2016 23:51

They loathe me (we are expats and when they visit I am not invited to join any meals, days out etc., so I can have a 'break'. We have live in childcare. Hmm They are interested in their GC for about 5 mins before they are also rejected and MIL just literally fawns all over DH. It's sickening to watch. Then the guilt tripping begins. Apparently I'm to blame for our move as I didn't persuade him not to go. Angry) I'd also rather not be here but his career comes first. They weren't happy when I worked full time, now I'm 'lazy'. TBH since DC came along our relationship has totally changed, it was fine before. They cannot stand the fact that they can't control their son's life. I find it all very odd.

Fatmomma99 · 26/02/2016 00:11

What an AMAZING thread!!!!

How do you nominate for classics?

Mine is like Liz70's:

"None - they're dead"

Jasharps - incest or just similar?

VimFuego101 · 26/02/2016 00:50

Dwindled to nothing

I always thought of them as just important as my own family, until BIL (their son)left SIL last year and I saw how they closed ranks around him and excused his horrible behaviour. Apparently he was perfectly justified in leaving because 'she was depressed' (SIL nursed her mother while she died of cancer) and 'she never cooked dinner' (they both work full time).

MissBeaHaving · 26/02/2016 00:53

Absolutely fucking brilliant !
