Grrrrrrrr. I'm hate it. I am all for celebrating reading and books but this yearly dress up activity at school drives me mad!

I have 2 Dc, they both want me to buy ready made costumes which will cost £30 or more! So not happening. I will still have to cobble something together though. I can't be arsed. We don't have anything. I have scoured the Internet for ideas. Kids either don't like the ideas or I don't have the stuff.

Right, I'll just hand my 7 year old a cardboard box, scissors and glue gun... Et voila. Problem solved! The making cystine BS is even worse. Our school actually make the whole costume thing a competition and give prizes to children in homemade costumes.. just to make those kids that have rummaged together bits and pieces themselves feel inadequate and make working parents, those with more kids, or those that are just shit at making things feel more guilty than they already do!
