I've just booked a self-catering holiday, accommodation only. Unfortunately, I am an idiot and have typed completely the wrong surname for one of the party (toddler woke me at 5:30 this morning with the most giant, disgusting nappy I have ever seen so I'm blaming sleep deprivation/emotional distress). The terms and conditions say that the names have to match up to the passports or I have to pay an "administration charge" which seems to be £40.

Now I'm thinking I have never had my details checked, even as lead traveller, on a self-catering accommodation only deal and I can't believe it's going to happen this time. So would it be unreasonable just to leave it and take the risk they don't check at all? And after all, what are they going to do, send us home when they meet us at the airport?

Views appreciated...

Ah, ok. Didn't think of that! Fair enough...

I rented a villa in Menorca two years ago and they checked the passports of everyone in the party against the names on the booking. I had booked flights separately.

I think there's a good chance you will get away with it but I think it depends on your overall propensity to anxiety.

The amount of anxiety this would give me would be way more than £40 worth so I would just cough up and then I could forget about it. If you aren't that bothered then wing it!!

Have a lovely time Smile

If it's a whole different name rather than just a transposition of letters then I think I would change it.
I would call or email and ask every so nicely if they can change it and hope that if it's only been a day then they might do it for free.

I'm off to get a job changing names on bookings. If it costs £40 to just change a name then that sounds like easy money to me.
