Forgetting to wave to daughter at nursery

AIBU to be racked with guilt this morning because I forgot to wave to my dd after dropping her at nursery?

She is nearly 3, and often wants to wave out of the nursery window when I've left her. This morning I got distracted chatting to other staff coming out, so got straight into car and left for work, then remembered 5 minutes later.... I feel terrible, this is the 2nd time I've done it.

Am I a terrible mother? Will the nursery staff think I really don't give a shit about dd? Or am I just being ridiculous about the whole thing?

DH still gets mildly upset if the whole family doesn't wave him off to work.

I have had to put my foot down and ask him quite firmly not to wake us all up at 7am in the school holidays, just so we can wave. It was OK when the DDs were cute toddlers up at dawn ... but now they are teenagers, waking them at dawn never starts the day off well!!

Yes, I think you need to wean your DH off that habit now Korma!! Teenagers Shock

I think I will cry if my kids don't always kiss me goodbye before I leave for work mind you

Whatever you do, do NOT go back to say goodbye if you happen to have forgotten (shock, horror) it will just make things 100 times worse for the staff who have to then deal with settling them back down, especially if they were upset to begin with.

I've done this and was devastated when I realised!!! I texted the keyworker and she said she'd told him that I had waved but he hadn't been looking and missed it!! He believed her and was fine. I did it again a few weeks later.

If it makes you feel any better I did this too and felt equally bad all day, imagining her tapping on the window as I strolled off. Sob. And no, she hadn't forgetten by time I'd collected her!
