Am utterly fed up. Had 3 calls yesterday including one at 8.30pm and every one was from the company asking me about solar panels etc.

Their number is withheld ( as is my elderly parents who have health issues) so I always pick up.

We are with the TPS but it doesn't apply to recorded messages- only if a 'real' person calls you.

When is this going to be changed?

the maddening thing is that I almost never give out my landline - the mobile number goes on all forms/websites as it is often turned off. Trouble is that like all numbers, the landline no is recycled. It was a business line so I think someone has sold that directory.

don't care if the mobile gets spammed but having it done to the landline is very annoying.

Dialling 1470 before the number I wanted to call used to unblock my withheld work number, if that's something your parents could do?

They did try using a number to unblock withheld- but will ask them to try again.

I think it may depend if you have signed up for / pay for your number to be withheld (BT offer this but you pay per quarter. They warn you that certain calls - hospitals, police etc - may not be able to contact you as they have switchboards that withhold numbers.)

BT Call Guardian I think you need to pay for CLI (caller line identification) probably an extra pound a month

I dont think that TPS stops any non UK calls

Alot of robots and scammers seem to originate from abroad
