He can't even read FFS!

We lost a good 'un when you emigrated OP. Smile

HaveIGotAClue · 15/02/2016 22:35

Takeme what CEO's look at is the political situation. In the case of 'the blasphemy law', they will look at that.
They may also stumble across the national embarrassment that is James Bannon.

Mick Wallace, Clare Daly, Mary Lou, Gerry - they're the boyos.

HaveIGotAClue · 15/02/2016 22:35

I know pomegranate. Pity Bannon wouldn't emigrate too.

WeShouldOpenABar · 15/02/2016 23:28

Hahahaha what a dope

WeShouldOpenABar · 15/02/2016 23:29

Mick Wallace isn't even a fucking TD anymore stay in England and keep your irrelevant opinions to yourself

sarahquilt · 15/02/2016 23:37

Nothing makes me ashamed to be Irish and we have nothing to prove to anybody.

IrishDad79 · 15/02/2016 23:43

Mick Wallace is still very much a serving TD.

A gombeen is a small time politician who has no interest in national affairs but bases his entire political career on "fixing" local problems such as potholes and the like.

TriJo · 15/02/2016 23:46

PR-STV really is an arse sometimes... Some real gobshites get in on transfers because blueshirts and FFers vote straight down the party line no matter how idiotic the candidate.

HaveIGotAClue · 15/02/2016 23:53

Thank you IrishDad. Saved me having to link....

sadie9 · 15/02/2016 23:54

He sounds to me like he is a person who has a stammer, which explains his lack of fluency.

HaveIGotAClue · 15/02/2016 23:56

He hasn't a stammer sadie. He can talk shite ad infinitum. Not a stammer in sight/sound. He's just an ignoramus and not someone who represents Irish people really. He gets the 'old' vote. That and the ones who just vote FG anyway.

TakeMeUpTheNorthMountain · 16/02/2016 00:00

Local issues should be fixed... potholes and the like should be brought up by your TD.. what are they there for but to serve their constituents?

That's the same in Britain and elsewhere isn't it?

If you are ashamed to be Irish then off you pop pet.

CottonFrock · 16/02/2016 00:01

Honestly, Have, are you saying that we should elect TDs on the basis of whether they appeal to the CEOs of multinationals?

HaveIGotAClue · 16/02/2016 00:03

I'm saying we should not elect gombeens.

I've spoken with this guy. I got more sense out of my 4 year old at the time.

He is a self-serving fool. The only reason he fixed the roads around his house/farm was because it served him!

OP posts:
TakeMeUpTheNorthMountain · 16/02/2016 00:03

Just researched this guy- I'm in Cork so I'm not familiar with him but I read this:

he was appointed as Deputy spokesperson on Environment with special responsibility for Local and Community Development

So his very function is to be involved in local issues?

TakeMeUpTheNorthMountain · 16/02/2016 00:04

Did you vote for someone else at the time OP?

HaveIGotAClue · 16/02/2016 00:05

Oh - and he's known locally as the 'coffin-chaser'. Basically he turns up at every removal in Longford/Westmeath.

OP posts:
HaveIGotAClue · 16/02/2016 00:06

If you count fixing the roads around his farm as serving the local community, then yes, he fits the bill.

OP posts:
HaveIGotAClue · 16/02/2016 00:07

some 'spokesperson'.......

So does my mother, it's a customary thing at rural level.

Yes I would consider this a local issue.

After all, what if the CEO of Instagram is flying past and sees the terrible infrastructure? We are fucked then.

HaveIGotAClue · 16/02/2016 00:15

I doubt they'd be looking where Bannon lives lol..... best kept road in ireland... you'd have a hard job to find the road...

OP posts:
HaveIGotAClue · 16/02/2016 00:17

Is your mother widely known as the coffin chaser? She probably knows the people.
Bannon doesn't. He knows they're in his constituency. That's all he gives a fuck about.

Skrewt · 16/02/2016 00:25

Oh come on. Give the OP a break. I am Irish, chose to live here after working abroad for years and after 15 years of grinning and bearing it I have to admit we are not a bright nation - if our government are representative of us then I could not recommend us as a safe bet "going forward" (former National Gombeen Brian Cowen's favourite saying). Our retired crooks of TD's and Taoisigh are on hideously massive pension's while the country is sinking further and further into the bog. Reports of economic recovery are greatly exaggerated on the back of rising house prices in the capital. I have been dragged with reluctance to this point of view as I weighted up moving here despite being very comfortable and happy in my adopted home (the UK) I didn't want to admit I'd made the wrong choice. As we work longer and longer hours and struggle to pay bills on top of new charges after new charges and the surprise election looms I find myself unable to chose anyone to represent any aspect of my life. There is no-one. I believe in voting and I will vote but I am seriously afraid that it will be a case of EeenyMeenyMinyMo to pick the least bad of a very poor or dangerous selection.
Maybe I was blind in my early years back here but I don't recall it being quite so Fr Ted-ish as OP'd TD shows - which is really all we seem to have.

I did love the following comment about him below the video. The reason we have such a plethora of Gombeen's in positions they should never have had a sniff at: he may be a fool but he’s our fool

TakeMeUpTheNorthMountain · 16/02/2016 00:29

I have to admit we are not a bright nation

Best of luck to you - clearly speaking for yourself there.
