Leaving the house whilst the baby is asleep.

Which (if any) of these are reasonable reasons to leave the confines of your house whilst you are home alone and the baby is napping in their cot?

1. quickly putting the bins out at end of (short) front garden, not carrying baby monitor.

2. Gardening in largish back garden, carrying baby monitor although it occasional goes out of range for short periods (1 minute or so)

3. Sitting on patio with a glass of wine in the evening, with monitor

4. Rescuing your cat from front garden of neighbour 4 doors down (away from house for 2 mins, carrying monitor still in range)

5. Collecting a parcel from neighbour 2 doors down (out of house for 2 mins, no monitor).

6. clearing up a bin bag full of nappies that has been ripped apart by a fox and is scattered across street in front of your house (out for 5 mins, monitor in range).

I have done some of these, DH has done others. Are we U?

DH and I play tennis outside with monitor. For ages sometimes.
And I quite often do the gardening in summer.

I think they're all fine. People need to learn to trust their own judgement and use a bit of common sense.

I think they all sound fine, especially when you have the monitor in range. I do remember my dm freaking me out a bit when dd1 was little by pointing out that you can't hear flames on a baby monitor. I was a bit more paranoid after that!

Yes treasonable. The Queen is very pissed off at you for hoe you and dh treat your pfb.

I'd say all of those are perfectly fine, as long as you are taking a moment for a sense check, ie 100% certain you are carrying your keys and a mobile in case of some random unforeseen event 😄

1-4 totally fine and normal. 5-6 I would prob wait until DH was home but I wouldn't say they were unreasonable.

Sometimes circumstances dictate; for example, I don't have a drive or garage, so my car is parked on the street about 15- 30 metres away, and when I was a single mum I'd go out at night to unload the shopping from it.

However, I'd never have entered another building- that was outside my psychological "safety zone"- tempted as I was to attend a yoga class in the church hall directly opposite my old house.

I'd put these alongside 'fetching something from the car which is parked on the drive', which imo is fine (provided as people say, you can't accidentally get locked out).

I once went to a bbq across the road and have a couple of drinks whilst my baby was asleep. The monitor worked that far

I wouldn't get into the habit of going off premises (house/garden), even with a monitor, but fine as a one-off.
