Apparently we are unfair

There is a lot of back story and loads of instances but this is the most pressing issue at the moment.

My dh had as a teenager a yellow Labrador. She was his best friend and they did everything together. He loved that dog and paid for everything including any vet treatment and food. He had to have her pts after 9 years due to bad health and he is still upset by the amount of pain that dog was in before he realised. He tears up everytime he mentions her.

His mother, my MIL, has just gone out and bought herself...a yellow lab and called it the same name he did!

To rub salt in the wound she keeps trying to bring the pup down here to show her off despite us saying not too.

Apparently this is unfair. She can't see how much dh is hurting from this.

She has no compassion really. This is not the only dog she has! She has a German shepherd who is kept in the kitchen and two Yorkies...one who is pregnant and is only 9 months old. They are all kept in a 1 bed bungalow..

She constantly complains she's broke and then goes out and buys another dog. In fact the German shepherd bled from his penis for a month. She couldn't afford a vet but she could afford a puppy Angry

So are we being unfair? I don't think so.

Oh god, she sounds like my DM. I too, would be upset about the name but I understand that is irrational as its a completely new animal with a new personality, so I prob wouldn't mention that to her.

She has too many dogs. End of. Could you not anonymously report her? Are the puppies healthy and does she only keep these dogs to sell the puppies? Are they her income IYSWIM.

NeedACleverNN · 12/02/2016 14:06

No puppies are born yet. The yorkie is 2 weeks pregnant..on her first season. Poor sod.

Apart from her disability, then yes it would be her incomings.

I have a feeling that if you don't report her, someone coming to view/buying these puppies might. Your MIL is on borrowed time.

How can she not have insurance, its just so irresponsible (and I actually hate dogs but you cant leave them in pain) Sad

About the fresh air/walks part.

They will ask but you cannot prove that someone doesn't walk the dog or let it in the garden so it's one of those pointless questions really.

If the home looks ok, the animals look ok and they can see they have food and water that's pretty much it.

They will ask what vets the animals are registered at and check to see if the vet has any concerns.

Ive personally reported someone for not feeding their dogs properly and abusing them (hitting them) and even though I had taken (legally) one of those dogs away and had it accessed by a vet straight away (was recorded as severely underweight and scared of everything) the RSPCA did bugger all about the other 3 in the house.

It has to be extremely bad or a TV crew following for them to take any action.

need it's impossible to tell if a bitch is pregnant only two weeks after mating it's around day 26 after mating a vet can palpatate or scan to confirm pregnancy so she may not be. Fingers crossed she isn't.

NeedACleverNN · 12/02/2016 15:12

I dunno she insists she is. Whether it's by vet confirmed or her guessing as the male is no longer intrested I'm not sure. Apparently she "tried" to separate them but it was impossible

Yeah that just means a mating and tie happened, it does not mean she is pregnant though, there is a high chance she is though.

As sadly people who don't care tend to end up with bitches who produce litter after litter with no issues while those who put the effort and correct research in are the ones who have the bad luck.

I know of a bitch who was mated on three different spaced out seasons, first time she reobsored, second time she had a singleton stillbirth and the third and final attempt she had the much wanted litter.

NeedACleverNN · 12/02/2016 15:44

I am hoping then that she is just hoping for pregnancy though I do think she will either get another dog or get rid of the female if she doesn't get pregnant. She wanted the female yorkie specifically for breeding as she's "broke and there is lots of money in breeding Yorkies"

In my eyes a proper breeder earns nothing or a very small profit when breeding puppies properly. All of the checks they do on the mother and father before mating even starts is a big cost.

She sounds deluded if she thinks byb Yorkies will bring in big money... The expensive ones cost a lot because of the care the breeder puts in. I hate people who thinking breeding = big money. Nope it = my bank being empty hoping that the bitch takes and has what it was I was hoping for in that litter.

When I costed up our last litter Dh didn't want to know how much in effect our last addition had cost in terms of money and time.
