Or am I just bring hormonal and over-emotional.

DS (13m) is currently in hospital and gas been gif a couple of weeks now. There is a small parent kitchen in the ward, which parents are expected to clean up after themselves. Every single time I have been in there since admission, I gave washed up a sink of stuff. Ok, my choice, and it fills done time/needs going etc.
I was washing bits earlier whilst waiting for s bottle to warm. A Roman came in, listen one of my arms out if the dunk, dropped her 2 filthy (and not scraped) plates in, and walked off.

Tell me honestly, am I exhausted, emotional, and hormonal (also 32w pg) and massively over-reacting? Or is this just unbelievably fucking rude! If I was a more confident person, I would have chinned her Shock

No that is so rude I don't know how you managed not to throw the plates at her.

CooPie10 · 11/02/2016 21:31

A Roman came in, listen one of my arms out if the dunk,

This doesn't make sense at all?

ImperialBlether · 11/02/2016 21:31

I'm really sorry your baby's in hospital. It must be very stressful. I would have said something to that woman, though, so she didn't do it again

A woman came in, lifted one of my arms out of the sink...

reallybadidea · 11/02/2016 21:32

That is rude but I'd have been too busy boggling at a real life Roman being in the kitchen to say anything Grin

MammaTJ · 11/02/2016 21:32

Massively rude! I would have said 'There are no maids here, we are expected to clear up after ourselves'.

RealityCheque · 11/02/2016 21:32

When in Rome...

Was she really from Rome Wink ?

I spent several weeks in a childrens hospital with one of my DC last year, the parent kitchen was a joke. I went in one day the second week to find someone had robbed the kettle. Other days my food was taken from the fridge (and since I couldn't leave to buy any I relied on this stuff).
I lost 10 kilos during our stay and mainly lived on chocolate from a vending machine.

Jibberjabberjooo · 11/02/2016 21:34

That's so rude OP.

I work on a children's ward, I'm fed up of washing up other people's plates and cups.

Arkhamasylum · 11/02/2016 21:36

It's just as well you didn't chin her, although I don't blame you for wanting to. I would have, too.

I hope your son's better soon Flowers

CooPie10 · 11/02/2016 21:41

Thanks Imperial. I was trying to work out the autocorrects but couldn't.
Yanbu op, very rude of her. She probably thought you would wash up after her.

put a notice up saying -i am not the paid dishwasher. Wash your own dishes. It will make you feel a little better. So sorry to hear your baby is not well. I hope he will improve and you will take him home soon.

TSSDNCOP · 11/02/2016 22:06

Tbh in the past several days I have become more convinced that chinning people is actually the way forward.

As DH says you can't educate shit.

sharonthewaspandthewineywall · 11/02/2016 22:06

Ziggy- some fucker lifted the flat screen TV off the wall in the parents room. Money donated by the parents of a child who sadly passed bought that TV to help make parents stay more comfortable Sad

Cuppachaplz · 11/02/2016 22:08

Yes, sorry I didn't spot the autocorrects Blush
Am tired and ranty

Yes it was a woman who lifted my arm out of the sink

Well done to all who guessed correctly Confused

Maryz there is no way she could have thought that I was a cleaner. I was in my pajamas Hmm

Bloody Romans think they own the place, what have they ever done for us?

ZiggyFartdust · 11/02/2016 22:11

I can believe it, Sharon. Depressing, isn't it?

bumbleymummy · 11/02/2016 22:12

YANBU. She was very rude. Sorry to hear your DS is in hospital. Hope he's doing ok. Thanks

Cuppachaplz · 11/02/2016 22:12

Ziggy that all sounds familiar. I have lost 4kg so far (MW gave me a proper boasting Blush), and lost a carton of my baby's milk (he has goats milk). Last time we were in, breast milk went missing-WTAF?

OP posts:
NoelHeadbands · 11/02/2016 22:12

YANBU though, cheeky shit head

ZiggyFartdust · 11/02/2016 22:17

It's different in each place. We've been in ones where you couldn't leave a teabag down or it would be gone, and others where local companies would bring in free pizzas for parents on the ward.
Does make for a crash diet though, handy for a fatty like me Grin

clam · 11/02/2016 22:22

When my dd was in GOSH years ago, I went along to the parents' lounge to heat myself up a ready-meal, once she'd gone to sleep. The door was blocked, as there was a family meeting going on with around 10 or so relatives of another patient. I was told by a nurse I couldn't go in and would have to wait.

They were in there for nearly two hours! I was starving. Eventually, a nurse told me to use the main kitchen microwave - which totally nuked my meal to the point of being inedible.
