To not be arsed with going out during the week

My friends (with no kids) always want to meet up on weekday evenings rather than at the weekend. I get that they have better social lives than me, but I have to get up for work at 5.30am Mon-Thurs and have a baby and a toddler who don't sleep well at night.

I would really rather finish my boring household chores and go to bed at 9pm than go out during the week! But they make me feel so bad if I say no... I don't mind if they go out without me, I just want to be able to say no, sorry, I'll wait till you have a free Friday or Saturday and not made to feel like a boring old cow. I'm sure one day I will feel like doing it again, just not now!

No. I wouldn't want to go either in your shoes

YANBU. I hate going out on weeknights, it throws my whole sleep pattern off.
Just tell them that you have children and that your lifestyle and priorities are evidently different to theirs. That you are happy to socialise with them but it will have to be a weekend as you just don't have the spare time in the week. If they are decent friends they will understand, if not, no loss to you, you don't need friends like that.

I try to meet friends earlier during the week. I much prefer to be home earlier and go to bed by 10.

Er, YANBU.

Not sure I'd ever fancy going out with a "friend" who didn't think I was worth wasting a Sat night on tbh. Talk about being relegated to second division.

YANBU to not want to go, but I don't think it's a case of having been "relegated" - my friends know my weekend nights are precious and I don't really drink anymore (certainly wouldn't want to go clubbing until the wee small hours like we used to 5 years ago) so tend to suggest meals out in the week as it's cheaper and less crowded and just... nicer when we want to chat!

Why don't you have them round for a takeaway? Or the onus is on you to suggest a weekend meet up - we sometimes go for coffee or lunch on a Sunday.

YABU. Go, don't go, entirely up to you.

YANBU. My friend invited me round to hers tonight, she said come for 8:30 Shock. I'm usually getting ready for bed at 8:30pm!! I have a school child and toddler who doesn't sleep and need to get up for work by 6am tomorrow.

I would really like to see her but I just don't think I can enjoy it at that time of night. She has a school age child too.
