to shovel dog poo into my neighbour's garden?!

I was just parking the car after getting back from the supermarket and noticed a big dog in my front garden making faces at my cats through the window and then doing a massive poo on my doorstep...

Over the past few weeks I've found dog poo in my garden ever few days. I got out of the car as quickly as I could at 6 months pregnant and saw the man 3 houses up holding his front door open to let the dog in. It looks like rather than walking his dog he just lets them run down the road for a poo. Considering he has a large back garden that's not really good enough.

I rung his door bell twice and knocked but funnily enough no one answered. Would I be unfair to return the dog poo to his front garden?! Is there anything else I could do to stop this?

Just put it into a thin brown envelope and write Return to Sender on the front Grin

Place marking because im having the exact same problem. Except I don't know who it is yet. Tempted to set up a covert cctv effort to work it out. Or just sit up in the dark and wait... (they're doing it super early morning).

I'd be tempted to. I've always maintained that if i knew who was responsible for the various sized mounds of dogshit on our pavements (often under the sodding dog mess bin), I'd put it on their doorsteps and let them scrub it out of their own carpets.

One of them giant vacuum cleaners came round the village, middle of last week. It didn't just clean the pavements, it vacuumed up half of the pavements. It was the first time since the last lot of snow that I could walk without constantly looking at the ground.

Didn't last. I was tiptoeing between mounds of the stuff again, today. Everywhere and absolutely rank.

Get a box of large chalk.this sort of thing

then draw a big circle around the offending turd pile, or a big pointed arrow with the words warning dog poo then draw a long line of arrows to the entrance of the person house and write the house the dog lives at who's owner won't pick up poo.

Honestly it works.

I have lots of dogs, and hate people who don't pick up, because it gives us all a bad name.

My neighbour but one used to do this.

One day the dog went for my DD in her car seat as she was on the ground next to the car. Thankfully another neighbour witnessed. I reported dangerous dog to the police.

Officers visited.
Dog was moved house to a relative. Good bloody riddance.

I realise this isn't helpful.

I hate scummy people with scummy dogs.

Def scoop and re-deliver.

On another note, I actually ask my next door N for her neat one sausage bagged dog poo to put it in the busy bush where the local cats all shit.
Keeps them away and dog poo disintegrates much quicker.

Starky I am in the same position. Our street is absolutely covered in it. It went down for a while when I started marking the poo's in talc/drawing chalk arrows pointing to them so no one else would walk in them. When I catch this person I will not be above following them home so I know who to report to the council!

Quoteunquote cross post! You are right, it DOES work! Just not long term Sad

Wondering if this was the face the dog pulled
(found lots of others, but far too many just looked scared - not in the least bit funny)

Im really tempted to do a week long vigil whatwhat . Our drive is set back and behind a wall, so whoever it is is encouraging the dog to go onto our drive, shit, and then just walking off. Who does that?! It's at least once a week I'm finding new poo!

LovelyFriend · 08/02/2016 23:28

Report to council. You saw his dig doing a poo on your doorstep. Nothing more to prove.

I've reported it and they took action swiftly.

ParsnipSoup · 09/02/2016 11:02

ouryve That is pretty close to the face!!

I've reported it to the dog warden this morning so we'll see what happens... Currently trying to psych myself up to go and clean up the front garden.

My friend has this situation. She took a picture of the dog on her grass having a shit, printed off a good handful and posted them around the neighbourhood, including through the offenders door. She also stapled a few to lamposts. I can't remember the exact wording she used, but it was very clear who the dog belonged too (she didn't put any names but the dog was distinctive) from the photo. Funnily enough, no more loose dog, no more dog shit on the lawn.

trulybadlydeeply · 09/02/2016 11:14

That's revolting. Do take pictures and build up evidence of what is happening.

I was also going to suggest keeping something by the front door to scare off the dog if you see him approaching (with his poo face on), things like a couple of spoons or other metal objects to bang together can be enough to scare a dog off without causing any harm, however you don't want to scare him so much that he runs out into the road and gets hurt.

If you are absolutely sure whose dog it is (and it sounds like you are) I can see no reason not to bag it up and leave it in his garden.
