So... first takeout pizza of 2016 eventually arrived an hour and a half after it was ordered. Salivating and giddy with excitement I ripped open the pizza box lid to see my (ok, our) texas bbq pizza smothered in pepperoni. That's pepperoni ffs on a chicken and bbq sauce pizza. No consultation or even mention in passing in the intervening 90 minutes. I'm still recovering from the shock.

Dominoes is not pizza.

ShadowsCollideIsSurroundedByAd · 06/02/2016 23:27

Yes, that too, Math. If I must have pizza from a takeaway chain it has to be Mizzoni, otherwise it's from a lovely local Italian restaurant. Which reminds me, I have half a pizza that I had boxed up and brought home after dinner there last night. Would it be wrong to shove it in the oven to heat and devour at this hour of the night? OddSocksHighHeels · 06/02/2016 23:30

Ooh I love BBQ sauce as well. You lot are weird Wink

shadows eat it cold. Cold leftover pizza is the best.

Annarose2014 · 06/02/2016 23:32

Theres something very very evil about BBQ sauce on a pizza. And chicken on a pizza? Why?? Chicken is the most boring topping ever!

Recently one of the chains, cant remember if it was Dominos or not, had onion bhaji bits as a guest topping. Sweet Holy Mother of Christ Baby Jesus. It was a taste sensation.

I wept when I rang a week later and it was discontinued. Such a blow.

ThisHorseCalledDonny · 06/02/2016 23:32

Tuna on a pizza. Wtf

Bleaurgggh

headexplodesbodyfreezes · 06/02/2016 23:33

OMG what is wrong with you??? BBQ so does not belong on a pizza.

Annarose2014 · 06/02/2016 23:35

Anybody else a fan of the very underrated feta cheese topping? Makes everything taste all creamy. Balances the other stronger toppings out.

Mmmmmmm.

OddSocksHighHeels · 06/02/2016 23:37

Anna yes! I like BBQ sauce, feta, sweet corn, pepperoni and mozzarella on my pizzas. Yum.

NinaSimoneful · 06/02/2016 23:48

Ugh pepperoni is soooo overrated. I do like sausage on a pizza though. But not bbq sauce. I wouldn't push for chicken on a pizza but I do like chicken on the side.

Yanbu.

OddSocks, I love cold pizza, if it's from an American style pizza place. If that's what we have, I'll keep some to have for dinner cold the next day. Proper Italian pizza though, must be hot. I have weird pizza rules Grin.

ThisHorse tuna on a pizza, with red onion, is absolutely amazing. Try it. It'll revolutionise your pizza eating. So delicious.

Krampus · 07/02/2016 01:18

Oh please don't say they've discontinued the onion bhaji. Tomato base with the chicken tandoori, bhaji, jalapeños, sweetcorn & onions. Mmmmm

I never tried the tikka base, sounded too sickly.

Pizza...................................................Texas BBQ

That is the minimum distance away from each other those foodstuffs should be. BBQ Pizza? WTF is wrong with people.

Kitsandkids · 07/02/2016 09:55

We ordered pizza a few weeks ago. One each. I asked for pepperoni with pineapple. This is not a new order. This is what I have almost every time. Husband put the order through online. By the time it arrived I was starving and so looking forward to it. Opened the box to find just pepperoni. I was so disappointed. I started to eat but was seething so I asked my husband to find the phone number so I could complain.

2 minutes later, 'Er I just checked and actually I forgot to order the pineapple.' Grrrrr!

KinkyAfro · 07/02/2016 10:12

Pepperoni is horrible, greasy, yucky stuff. Give me my chicken, tuna & spinach regular any day. I'd have LTB

Definitelynomore · 07/02/2016 19:55

I should have known that the pizza purists would be lurking in the darkest recesses of mumsnet, waiting to pounce on any cretin fool enough to expose their taste in a cultural mismatch of flavours that has no place on this earth. As I said before I make no apologies. If I like it I'll have it regardless of "authenticity" or what it might be perceived to say about my place in society. And always preferably without my other half doctoring it behind my back.

It says nothing about your place in society. It says everything about your palate

Cultural mismatches can work (bhajjis and ketchup). Some don't.

Mmm texas bbq.

Want face.

Definitelynomore · 07/02/2016 21:17

Oooh madamdeathstare I feel your pain. As far as I can make out from your average vegetarian version of a Christmas set menu, veggies are supposed to love spinach, goat's cheese and mushrooms, preferably all at once and encased in filo pastry. Or, given the current topic, on top of a pizza. No wonder your dh is confused.
